Congratulations on a successful visit. When I attend my first visit to Howard Brown, I will go en femme right from the start. Your experience seems to indicate that is the best thing to do.

Hi Clara, I honestly think she doesnt have much experience at this.... She did mention that but said she had been doing some research on it because she has a couple more new patients aside from me Wink

She is the ONLY doc in this area I can find that treats TG patients aside from one endo that requires a referral and and has a six week waiting list...

I think the fact that I was honest about my program helped and I bet she's as interested in seeing the lab results as I amSmile

Yes going as a female will no doubt help Id think Wink Thanks and good luck with your docsWink

God this doc is going to drive me NUTSAngryHuhRolleyes

Just got a call on my lab results.... Nurse says to continue what Im taking... T is "25" and E is "128" and prolactin is "13"...

Gonna go pick up the lab results this afternoon and I will post all of the details... T sounds nice and low and Im frankly surprised E isnt much higher with all that I take.... So at least I do apparently need need that much E to get in the female range... Ive been on 12-14 mg E2 daily... 200mg Spiro, .50mg Dutasteride, 100mg progesterone 1 week out of the month...

So I ask about new prescriptions and she says, "she didnt mention anything about that" WTFAngryAngryAngry

Waiting on a call back about that....

Yes, that's crazy. I was always asked to come in for my blood draw first, and make a follow-up appointment with the doctor to go over the results. He would then go on-line and enter the prescription or prescription renewals on the spot. Never a question where I stood. I hope HBHC does it that way, too. We'll see.

That is strange that your E is as low as it is given the large estrogen dosage you are taking. I think I remember reading somewhere that taking more E than your body can use can be counterproductive. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe you should lower your E intake!?! I'm taking 4 mg/day and feel the effects (sore boobs, mental calmness, etc.) I'm going to increase to 6 mg/day starting next week though to see if the effects intensify. I'll stay at that dosage right up to my appointment.

Clara
Eva, I asked my doc about E amounts yesterday and why my prescribed dosage was lower than other girls I know. He said each person responds differently to amounts. So at 4-6 mgs a day mine goes too high, while at higher amounts yours takes longer to rise. I am guessing this may because three years of PM dropped my T so low (2.5 total, less tha 1 free) that the E is more effective. He said a range of between 160 and 190 E is where he wants to see me stabalize. Ill get my new results Monday and we will see what last months adjusted dosahe has done. I had previously bounced from an initial 0 rating to 278 and then back down to 98.
Ive tried going lower and I dont feel as good at all.... I am happy that the T is low and I could definitely feel the difference when that happened a week or two after starting the Spiro....

I was worried about the E taking so much but "128" is right there from what Ive read and actually a little low...

I have read that smoking interferes with oral estrogen... Even though I take it sublingually... I did notice the gel makes me feel much better...

I am going to try at least 2 100mcd estradot patches and my 6mg of gel daily along with whatever oral E I need to feel good I guess...

I think these results make my case for weekly IM EV injections even stronger.... That would have to be cheaper, easier and safer than all the goop and pills Im on nowRolleyes

This doc is REALLY PISSING ME OFF THOUGHAngry

Really if she's not gonna prescribe Im gonna have to drive 7 hours one way to Denver just to find a doctorAngrySadSadSad
Believe me Id love to be able to get by on 4-6mg oral E... All this that I take aint cheapSad
Eva, it seems to me that you really do need to see an endo who understands the physiology of transitioning and knows enough to help transwomen who are not achieving the degree of feminization that is desired. That is really the goal: feminization, not reaching some magic E level per se. Of course, the two are highly correlated, but as a unique individual, you may never be able to raise your E to a much higher level and, maybe, you don't really need to. You are feminizing very well from what I can see from your photos. Remember that HRT carries risks.

Clara

Yea I hear you Clara and ID LOVE to find an endo that knows what they are doing... Like I said though Im in rural western South Dakota, less than 400,000 people in the entire western half of this state...

I can go to Minneapolis or Denver to find a doc with experience... Or I work with the only one I can find here....

Im VERY fucking confused here.... Im told to continue my program as is, "labs look great"... OK so where's the fucking prescriptions AngryRolleyes

Yes feminization is the goal, yes its been working... Having prescriptions is also pretty damn important...

Laser appointment on Monday then its looking like a trip to Denver with fresh lab results is in the cards here....

Did you call the office and ask about the prescriptions? Could be just an oversight on their part.

I only expect to visit my TG doc twice a year once I'm in HBHC's THInC program, so the distance I need to travel (although trivial compared to what you're looking at) is not important. In your case, maybe you can find an endo in Denver, and get regular follow-up blood draws in SC, or as needed, which your endo can then examine and make needed changes to your scrips. Just a thought.
