Congratulations for making your decision, Eva. I'm a couple months behind you. Smile

Thanks its only like 6 weeks away!!! I outta be in pretty good shape by summertimeCool If only I had hairSad Thats next but I gotta wait 6 months post op according to Dr S....

Ok today is 2 months post op voice feminization surgery...

For the most part Im happy with it so far but still a bit disappointed... Id love it to be just a bit higher, its in the lower female range but there is still a male resonance I dont like...

The doc did say THREE months minimum for the final results though so Im hoping for more improvement to come... I understand that Yeson guy in Korea has restrictions on talking for the first two months and his patients see improvement up to a year out... I guess I just have to just be patient, not one my strong suitsRolleyes

Still as of right now its definitely a lot less worry about my voiceBig Grin It used to be really hard and now I hardly ever think about it...

IF it doesnt end up higher there are still things I can do surgically to tweak it a bit higher but Im hoping to avoid that...

Voice can be trained to higher registers as well but needs to be practiced regularly until it becomes 'natural' for you to talk that way. Your voice isn't likely to go any higher than your natural high range even with surgeries (if my information isn't now outdated, science progresses so fast it is hard to keep up sometimes).

I have a sadly masculine bass voice, deep register, very shallow high register, even at my highest range I still sound decidedly male and not even close to female. It's one of the things I detest about myself. If there are surgeries than can raise the natural range I may have to look into that at some point. A woman talking in a bass register... not pretty.

My understanding is that the resonance (also called timbre) of a man's voice is determined by the length of the airway from the larynx to the nasal passage which is typically greater than that of a woman. You can raise your voice pitch, but resonance is unaffected. That's why talking in higher pitch voice sounds weird. Surgery cannot change that. You have to train your throat muscles to pull your larynx up and back to change the geometry of the airway to reduce the resonance of your voice.

I can talk at a pitch within female range (170 - 220 Hz), but I still have that male characteristic resonance that gives me away. Voice surgery would do me no good. I have to train my voice to change the resonance characteristics.

If I raise my larynx by swallowing and hold it there while talking, my voice sounds more feminine. Try it. The trick is to talk that way without even thinking about it.

Hey my voice WAS very deep, I went 45 years under the influence of lots of T Sad 31 years of heavy smoking and drinking sure didnt help either...

Right now I cant really raise it at all and if I try to talk in my old femme voice it doesnt really even do anything... I can and do still use the same muscles to control resonance but these nowhere near as much effort... Just a little is all thats needed, compared to a lot of effort before...

What I have now is about the same pitch as my old voice with ZERO effort.... Im still healing though and my "falsetto" comes and goes now... When its there I can do some really weird high pitched stuff Smile

The frequency range in that recording goes from 150-160hz with an absolute low around 130hz on the bottom to 230-260hz up top... That is a significant increase up top for me but not so great on the bottom end...

I expecting a little more once its fully healed, yes the male resonance is HARD to get rid ofSad It really has come a long way though and people do say it sounds good even though Im not thrilled with it... Of course I want nothing less than perfection, Im very hard on myselfBlush
Well it seems I just CANT get settled in and comfortable with any specific HRT regime since I started 9 months agoSad

Turns out Delestrogen has been discontinued by the manufacturer in 10mg/ml and 20mg/ml concentrationAngry All thats available is 40mg/ml...

I cant make it much past 5 days, not even a week between shots without feeling like crap for a day or two before my shot... Id be just FINE with 10mg every five days I think... That would be a SMALL .25 ml shot at the 40mg/ml concentration... My script of 7mg every 5 days is .7 ml at 10mg/ml and .35ml at 20mg/ml and it would be ridiculously small at .175ml at 40mg/ml...

Easy solution to me would be to go with 20mg every week, thats .5ml weekly at 40mg/ml concentration... n
Thing is my doc likely wont go for that... I just tested 637pg/ml E and 7.1ng/dl T 3 days after an 8mg shot.... He knows and I explained that this should be very close to a peak level and it doesnt stay that high for long...

But it dont matter anyway because now we gotta change it again anyway because I cant get EVAngry

So I haven't heard back from him yet but its either gonna be EV at 40mg/ml or I go back on Depo Estradoil (Estradoil Cypionate)...

Thing is of course he dont know Ive been doing 10mg progynon depot (EV) in addition to my script... I tried to taper down off that before my labs but likely some was still in effect as well as the 8mgRolleyes

I'll find out soon I guess, his nurse was supposed to call me back today...

Meanwhile Ive been just FINE back on my 18mg EV for the last two shots plus 100mg spiro and 100mg P and dutas....

So this SUCKS....

Oh and then I got Dr Speigels presurgical packet today and he says discontinue ALL HRT 2 weeks before surgery... Thats 6 weeks out so I have a month on something to be determined until then Sad I still have a 2 week supply of EV left too... THEN I need to do a COMPLETE panel and physical for Dr S... He wants that done a month pre op, 2 weeks from now... So I have no clue what my doc will want to do here nowHuh

Also says no electro or laser for 6 weeks before and three months after surgeryHuhRolleyes I was planning to stop that 20 days before surgery, seems like plenty of time to me and thats probably what i will do... I have one more laser treatment and I dont need much more electro... I can see stopping post op for a while though...

Getting stressed now...

Interesting, Eva, although Spiegel states 2 months, not 3, after FFS before resuming electrolysis.

Dr Bart van de Ven from his website: "There is no problem for us if you have a hair removal session two days before your surgery."

I think one should at least allow enough time for the swelling from electro to subside before doing major FFS. For me that would be a couple of weeks tops.

My surgeon, Dr. Capitan of Facial Team, is not putting any restrictions on when I resume electrolysis. He says I can resume as soon as I feel ready. In my case it's because I am not having chin or jaw work done, nor am I having a face lift at the same time as the FFS. Swelling in my lower face will be minor. I plan to resume electrolysis 3 weeks after FSS and do the face/neck lift 6 months later.

Clara

Yea Clara Im gonna get it done anyway, screw that... I have my 6th and last laser appointment on 2-4... Hardly any dark hair coming in but it is there and Im sure by then there will be some there to fry, hopefully for good.... Id say 2 weeks after laser everything is completely healed, but probably even faster because there really is almost nothing dark leftBig Grin

Im also gonna do as much electro as my electrologist can do before then too... Im gonna see her tomorrow and I'll find out how she's doing... Im hoping to have everything cleared before surgery... I figure stopping electro 2 weeks before surgery is fine... She is good and any swelling is completely gone three days after... Im not worried about it...

I was kinda relieved to hear my doc says to stay on my script but to try the 40mg/ml Delestrogen... I was afraid it would be too high but he at least gets that it peaks and crashes pretty quick and that was more like a peak measurement... Id prefer to do that and supplement with Indian Progy EV than mix EC and EV...

MIGHT even start mixing the two... At that high concentration the needle alone holds at least a mg that just goes to waste... I figure draw the Progy at 10mg/ml then draw the Delestrogen and I get a little extra Delestrogen and the needle will be full of 10mg/ml Progy instead after the shot... Gonna try this on my next and likely last higher dosage shot for a while anyway.... An extra mg of precious EV every 5 days will really add up in the long run and I will only have to do one shot instead of two... I cant really see a problem with mixing the two different EV's, we'll find out soon.... Gotta taper down again for Dr Speigels CBC that my doc will be doing...

I have 3-4 shots left of 20mg/ml.... Not sure my insurance is gonna go for paying for 5 months worth of injections at once... At my script of 40mg per month a 5ml 40mg/ml vial should last me 5 monthsRolleyes Not mention the 30 syringes I'll need to go with that....

I'll find out more about that and whether or not my Avodart (dutas) will be covered by Wellmark BCBS.... If not my doc is fine with me staying on the Indian Dutas....

Gonna find out more from my doc tomorrow, gotta arrange for more labs and a complete physical in about 3 weeks and I want to know what day after my shot he wants tested... So I figure 1 more high octane dose then taper down again.. THEN it will UP for a few shots before "stopping" for surgery... That last shot 2 weeks out WILL be a BIG oneRolleyes Probably 25-30mg... Definitely keeping the receptors guessing here and YES Im definitely an E JUNKIE!!!Tongue
The helpful pharmacist at Target tried running my script for 10mg/ml Delestrogen through Welmark BCBS... The copay came back at $272.00 Angry It was $35.00 with my old insurance, United Healthcare... I asked her if it needed "preapproval" she said she didn't think so but she didn't know for sure... She said she couldn't get it regardless... She called her wholesaler and they said their date to get 10mg or 20mg/ml is March 2015Huh

My doc hadn't called in the script for 40mg/ml yet so I couldnt find out what the copay would be but she said she would have to order it but she should be able to get it... Of course thats IF BCBS is gonna pay for a reasonable amount or even pay at all for more than three months worth...

She said I should probably go with one of two local compounding pharmacies... So I had her call my docs nurse and explain all this... She said she's gonna call the compounding pharmacies for me today and she what they can do for me Smile

All this BS is making the Indian Progynon Depot from overseas internet pharmacies look like an attractive option Wink Im considering mentioning this to her... Im glad I started the refill process early, I still have about 3 weeks of Delestrogen left... The price is ridiculous, it should be dirt cheap and generic for EV, not like its patented or anything HuhRolleyes

BCBS did cover Avodart, $33.00 a month copay VS UNHC's $141.00 for a months worth... I did have them fill three months worth of the Avodart for me... $33.00 for known legit dutasteride is worth it compared to $18.00 for generic overseas Dutas... I swear I heard a generic option of Avodart is supposed to be out in sometime 2015... So as of today and for the next three months Im on legit Dutasteride, shouldnt be any different than the overseas generic, Im gonna find out find out I guess Wink

What a pain in the assAngry I will go back on Depo Estrogen (EC) if I have to but I will stay on injections even If I have to make it all Indian Progynon depot... I wont go with any other route for my HRT...
I hope they get this figured out soonRolleyes

I was finally able to get an hour of electro in, she was only up for an hour unfortunately but she seemed to still be as fast as ever, maybe even faster... She's lucky to even be here from the sound of it She was in the hospital for a month... They have proof the guy who hit her was speeding and texting while drivingDodgy

So she says she will be able to get back to two hour sessions next week... She's still not driving yet and her son was there to pick her up... She wants to start driving again next week... Im glad shes OK, she's a great lady.... She's also the only electrologist within hundreds of miles from here... It WAS good to get some of those nasty hairs gone... Im gonna estimate I'll need another 6-8 hours to get it cleared again... Its been 8 weeks and actually there isnt that much growing in since we we had it cleared before her wreck... Still it sucks and its slow going and shaving definitely sucksSad

Im actually considering going to school to learn how to do electro, she seemed open to helping me there... Im gonna bring it up again Monday when I see her again... She's overloaded with work and she didnt seem to mind competition at allBig Grin
Ahhhh, the greatness of Obama Care.....Sad
