Hi Annie,
Grapefruit juice blocks the action of specific enzymes needed to absorb and break down drugs. These enzymes, found in the intestinal wall and liver, are called cytochrome P-450 3A4 and 1A2 (CYP3A4 and CYP1A2, for short). Several constituents of grapefruit juice have been implicated, including specific flavonoids and other phytochemicals called furanocoumarins.
By inhibiting the action of these enzymes, grapefruit juice increases your body’s absorption of certain drugs, and also slows the process of breaking them down in the liver. Thus certain drugs affected by these enzymes stay in the body longer than normal.

As you know PABA slows the breakdown estrogen by the same action. I've been using white GFJ with no sugar added and for the most part it eliminates the sour extract taste. Checkout the thread below if ya get a chance, it goes a bit deeper in absorption details and enzymes.

That's awesome news about the weight, I guess it just goes to show how one drug can have such an opposite effect of it's intended benefit.

Thank you for making me revisit the grapefruit juice issue. Since I am on warfarin and subject to regular INR tests, it has almost been an article of faith that grapefruit juice is not consistent with well controlled INR and may push it too high. Having read or reread your references, and a number more as well, it does seem that grapefruit juice in moderate quantities should not present a problem. Somewhat to my surprise, it looks as if cranberry juice may present at least as much of a problem (I have in recent months been taking a lot of cranberry juice to help control urinary tract infections). There do appear to be various reported cases in which both juices have been linked with dangerously or even lethally high INR readings, but these all seem to have involved very large juice intakes and probably other factors. Controlled trials with moderate intakes seem to suggest that they should not present a problem. I celebrated by going out and buying grapefruit.

Hi spanky,
I'm so sorry to hear about you're father and grandfather, when's the last time you had yourself checked?. As far the two together it would seem like a good fit, to be sure I'd ask your PCP if you can. (I'll do more research and see what else's shakes out)
DIM is Diindolylmethane-It is an anti carcinogen and also improves estrogen metabolism. Plant-derived 3,3′-Diindolylmethane Is a Strong Androgen Antagonist in Human Prostate Cancer Cells* DIM is remarkably similar in conformational geometry and surface charge distribution to an established synthetic AR antagonist, Taken with estrogen agonist, activities of DIM are seen as an hormone disrupter. DIM is the first example of a pure androgen receptor antagonist from plants.
Dim is also considered an AA. (Estrogen agonist)-an antagonist for estrogen that is used in the treatment of breast cancer, like taking tamoxifen, which is a drug that antagonizes breast cancer cells.
Well, turns out they actually make a product with PM and Dim, said to enhance PM, which to me means the metabolism.

I have some of this stuff and it was the first PM I ordered, I guess I should have read into the ingredients before I bought it
It has ;
Folate (usp folic acid) 200mcd 50% RDA
vitamin B12 (as cyanocobalamin) 500 mcd 8333% RDA (WTF)
biotin 150 mcd 50% rda
Selenium (as selenomethionine) 70 mcd 70% rda
Pueresterol (as Peuraria Mirifica root extract) 100 mg
DIM (di-indoylmethane) 50 mg
So not much PM but WTF why is there so much B12???
(26-03-2014, 10:50 PM)LittleMissS Wrote: OK Lotus but isnt that a heck of a lot of B12
Jeez I took three of those in one day when I first got em and I was actually feeling a serious effect downstairs rivaling viagra
Thats when I said WTF and read the label, not what I was expecting!!!
I have considered adding one cap a day in place of a Ainterol PM cap/dose (I use the powder and likely too much)...
