Glen or Glenda is a 1953 film written, directed by, and starring Ed Wood, and featuring Bela Lugosi and Wood's then-girlfriend Dolores Fuller.

In his heart-felt cinematic debut, Edward D. Wood, Jr. himself stars under the pseudonym Daniel Davis as a young man with a dilemma: should he tell his lovely young fiancee (Dolores Fuller) about his burning desire to cross-dress? The film is a docudrama about cross-dressing and transsexuality, and is semi-autobiographical in nature. Wood himself was a cross-dresser, and the film is a plea for tolerance.

In 1953, Wood wrote and directed the exploitative semi-documentary Glen or Glenda (originally titled I Changed My Sex!) with producer George Weiss, which starred Wood (under the alias "Daniel Davis"), his girlfriend Dolores Fuller and Lugosi as a god-like narrator. The film was loosely based on transsexual Christine Jorgensen. While panned by critics then and now (being considered as one of Wood's worst films), though many praise the camp qualities, the film is notable for its groundbreaking empathic portrayal of LGBT issues at a time when most media were very hostile.

The cover is CLOSE to the one I saw, and it IS around the correct era, late `80's/early `90's, but, I recall the cover having a guy in a blonde wig that wasn't a very convincing looking woman. Seems to me it had a picture of the guy as a guy and him in the mirror with a wig and a dress on. It just seemed as if it came from The Masters Of Cheese collection, it was so bad!!

Reading the film synopsis (if it the right one) is does not sound like quality cheese, a Emmental or Camembert. More like spray cheese or that orange goopy stuff on a burger. lol
