I think switching back and forth with wanting to pursue NBE is reason enough to put it on hold for a few years at least. NBE isn't something you have to decide on right now. I'm twice your age. Believe me when I say you'll have plenty of time in your adult years to figure out if NBE is something you really want to go through.
