Actually main reason they don't like to put you on MtF HRT if you have a history of kidney disease is because of spironolactone. I was actually doing some reading and happened upon a study that indicates the negative effects of spiro can be regulated with the addition of 4mg/kg of glyceritenic (I know I spelled this wrong but can't remember the right spelling) acid per every 100mg spiro. That's the active constituent of black licorice. To reach that calculate your body weight and for reference liquid extracts of licorice contain about 200-400mg.
