Hey so I have been giving it a long hard think over the past several months that has past since I was last on here (so I am not a new member) but I have decided I want to start HRT at some point and was looking for some advice from a lovely community of people
I was also going to point out that I have had when I was younger (around the age of 2) a medical condition called nephrotic syndrome and from doing a lot of research and reading into HRT and what the risk factors are I am really frightened I wont be able to do it which if so will really make me upset
as from what I read it can affect all many of areas of the body and I know its a big change to have to the body
but yeah my medical condition is a kidney disease and it specificity states in a lot of information I have read that I shouldn't use if I have a history of liver, kidney or heart diseases
I understand my best bet is to go and see a therapist or talk to my local Doctor to see if it will have any effect on me with my background
if anyone can give me more advice on the matter would be good thank you

I'm pretty sure there are alternatives for people who have renal or liver problems. Patches I think normally bypass the issues that oral estrogen has on those areas
Of course your liver and renal function should be checked regularly by a doc to keep an eye on things

my Renal & liver functions are fine as far as I am aware I have regular blood tests anyway's every 4 months as a check up to do with my medical condition But I was reassured by my doctor when I was in my teens before puberty that it would burn out of my system and so far I have been a okay but I still have regular check ups to see how I am like I say
having patches or in another form does that have a longer period of time before they take effect compared to oral tablets I understand that its not something that happens over night it can take many years to perfect and get to a place that feels right
Nooo oral and patches have the same effect
patches are better in all ways except convenience!

Ah wonderful so I will be able to get the desired effect but in a much safer way I hope that leaves me jumping for joy if that's possible
Actually main reason they don't like to put you on MtF HRT if you have a history of kidney disease is because of spironolactone. I was actually doing some reading and happened upon a study that indicates the negative effects of spiro can be regulated with the addition of 4mg/kg of glyceritenic (I know I spelled this wrong but can't remember the right spelling) acid per every 100mg spiro. That's the active constituent of black licorice. To reach that calculate your body weight and for reference liquid extracts of licorice contain about 200-400mg.
I'd still discuss it with a doctor, and tell them about that study though.
More than likely, you will be started on a very low dose. That will enable any doctor to monitor your condition At a safe level .

Thanks ill be sure to keep this in mind not sure when I will make the final decision as I know its a huge life change
is the risk factor lower with Patches or any other form that is different to oral use?

Estradiol can be done via patches. Right now all used forms of anti-androgens used for HRT are oral tablets. Spironolactone is the most common in the USA. If you're anywhere else most likely you'll be put on cyproterone acetate, and the kidneys shouldn't even matter, but the risks to the liver increase.
Again though, a doctor will know more than we would.
