Some results and concerns

#1

Hi, pre-anything MtF here, 21 years old. I've owned four bottles of Swanson Ovarian Glandular from Amazon for a year now. Read somewhere that they're good for up to two years of the manufacturing date, which is later this year in September. I started taking them a week ago. I'm taking one a day for now, and I plan to gradually increase the dosage.

The first result I got were thin, soft hairs along my arms, and an inch-long one on my right cheek. A friend told me it's common for women when they get an unusual spike in E. There's some pressure in my chest, but no changes yet, nor do I expect any at this dosage. I wanna let my body get used to this stuff first. I've had a headache and general drowsiness for a day now.

I worry every time I take another pill though. I can't help but worry about the source of the bovine. The bottles say it's from Argentinian cattle (got them before the bottle information was changed/made more vague), and there's a "negligible risk" of BSE (mad cow) for Argentina. I could live with that. I'm just not sure how much I should trust Swanson. Is there any system in place that would prevent them from claiming it comes from anywhere they want?

Also, the product isn't FDA-approved. They do however claim that the ovaries are tested at GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) labs, which are registered with the FDA. Can the labs detect BSE? Is there proof that Swanson even goes through GMP?

Sorry for my paranoia, vCJD (basically the human form of mad cow disease) just scares the hell out of me, though if I'm not mistaken, only under 300 people have died from it worldwide? Have any of them died from BO though Have there been any confirmed or unconfirmed stories of people getting vCJD from BO?

I have been taking it for almost 10 months now up to four pills a day and not noticed or even seen in any research that I've done of anyone having any direct concerns or results from that issue only occasionally do some people say they might see I concern like you have I but whith that space I wonder how big of a concern is mad cow disease anymore I do not hear about it on the news though. That does not mean it don't exist I could only speculate does a chances are extremely low of that being an issue you say you had one really long hair on your cheek that's interesting it's really too soon for any results especially at that dosage many websites say it takes six months or more to start seeing some changes though for the first 30 days it is common and has been reported that there are feelings and slight noticing of changes in the nipple that does quickly go away as well as the headaches hopefully the Earth's will not be related

Hi Eiragunn, don't worry, I was worrying too about BSE so I wrote to Swanson, here's what that kindly answered me:

Quote:Great question!  There is not cautions, interactions or warnings with this product.  It has only been taken at high levels of 2,000mg a day, so anything over that daily amount is unknown.

All of our glandular products are frozen when raw to preserve active components then desiccated (dried), powdered, defatted and tested at GMP laboratories in the heartland of America.

Our raw glandular are sourced from either Argentina or the U.S. and are derived from bovine (beef) animals. Porcine animals (pork) is not known to cause BSE.

Regarding BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy or  “mad cow disease”):  BSE is not known to exist in Argentina—guaranteed by SENASA (this country’s form of the UDSA) and the World Health Organization—with certification of such on file with our supplier. The U.S. source for these raw bovine materials comes from USDA- and FDA- inspected and certified establishments where the animals have passed both ante- and postmortem examinations performed by a licensed veterinarian to guarantee they are fit for human consumption.

There is no FDA/USDA test currently available to test for BSE in dried animal protein products—so we cannot make any claim that our raw glandular are “BSE free”. The World Health Organization has an approved testing process for “suspect” raw bovine tissues which means they do this testing on a case-by-case basis.

Millions of people are daily eating cow and animal tissue, brain, kidneys, liver, thyroid and more without consequences so may be you are right we're just paranoiacs about BSE.
My worries goes to producing too much human growth in my body because of BO, so I take Swanson's recommended dose which is 250mg per day.
I'm on 2 weeks, having good results in terms of breast, I'm planning to continue one pill a day for 6 months to see how things are going. I've read that taking too much BO is doing the opposite effect because it's blocking the estrogen receptors in your body. BO is not HRT, I guess it is better to let your body gently adapt the new way to process hormones suggested by BO, what do you think ?

I would really doubt any natural, over the counter product can significantly raise growth hormone. Especially for prolonged periods of time, which is what gives it effectiveness. Even if you took actual pituitary tissue as a supplement, the active ingredients like GH, GHRH have a half life of minutes.

There's actually a thread in Other Methods by mongoose3 about using longer acting growth hormone secretagogues for promoting breast growth. I think that coupled with herbals or HRT you would see some good results. Growth hormone is good for collagen formation, skin health, hair growth, fat loss and anti-aging as well as the general anabolic processes of the body.

Taking 1 250mg pill a day won't do much of anything.....Especially without a AA...
