Pesky chest hair...

But to your question: with epilating the hair does not grow back all at once as happens with shaving. With me isolated hairs begin to appear after ten days or so, and mostly they are softer and finer--another advantage over shaving. Since the hairs do not regrow at the same rate, you will find that you will probably want to epilate every few days. 1/8 inch means that they will be long enough for the tweezers in the epilator to grip them. Over time increasingly less hair will grow back, as you pull out the roots. (This happens by itself.)

With my pubic area I usually tweeze the hairs as they appear; I only resort to the epilator when I haven't kept up my maintenance. One nice thing about the epilator is that it pulls out hairs that you may not even be able to see. Running your fingers across the area is the best way to tell if you have missed anything.

That is fantastic! Well here's to hoping this epilator works out for me. So far the pain isn't all that bad, perhaps I just have a higher threshold for pain. I noticed I did miss some spots, I will try later and see if using the epilator dry makes much of a difference. Smile

When I bought my first epilator and used it on my pubic area, I couldn't believe how much it hurt! And, not knowing how to use it properly, I tore up my skin. I thought I had wasted the money on this device. But when my skin cleared up after a few days it was so wonderfully smooth I had to persist. Over time, through a combination of acquired skill and the adaptation of the skin, you won't feel any discomfort at all.

Yeah that stuff looks a lot like Aplomb, but I remember the woman selling it saying there was some sort of special Egyptian mud in it, too.

Ant egg oil: If you read some of the Q & A below, it says you have to get rid of the hair yourself first. Kinda back to square one at that point it!

It's this semi-transparent brown goop in a toothpaste-sized tube. Apparently it's made of some kind of special Egyptian mud/clay. You squeeze out just a dab of it, not even as big as a golf ball. You knead it between your fingers for a moment, then apply it to the hairy area you want to clean off and kinda smoosh it out across the area for a few moments, then, once it's "stretched" out across the area it's needed on, you wait 3 seconds, flick up one part of the edge, then rip quickly, just like with wax, but this stuff doesn't hurt at all AND you can use the same glob over and over again until you've removed the hair from your entire body, if you wish! Apparently, the hair stays away a lot longer, too. I never DID get around to buying any, but, ever since then, I haven't seen it ANYWHERE!! I'd LOVE to get some!!

I remember that stuff to, just didnt remember the name, never did see it in any store either.

A while back I tried sugaring. Started here http://hairremoval.about.com/od/sugarwax...ing101.htm reading about it and learning how to make it. I will say it was a pain in the ass to get the sugar correct. Getting it workable was more of a pain, probably because it wasn't right. When I did get it to work it worked well. It was way less painful the the at home wax strips you get at the store. Cleans up easily with water. IIRC you can buy a premade batch from amazon for cheap. It does pull hair out by the roots, so it takes longer for it to regrow. My skin wasn't irritated at all like with wax. So if you're skin is sensitive it may be better.

Yeah, I think the idea is that the product will inhibit regrowth of the hair root.
Exact same product is on amazon (same oddly syntaxed product description).
My favorite review from Amazon (all the rest suggest it's bunk):

"I was initially a bit skeptical of this product, but once I heard that it had been proven in actual laboratory experiments, complete with actual doctors even, I was sold. I'm noticing a real difference- chitin is beginning to grow over my back like armor, and I've developed a pair of powerful crushing mandibles. I can also now lift cars over my head. The one side effect I should mention is that every time I go out in public now, grown men faint and children cry at the sight of me. It will be all worth it though once I assume my rightful place as Queen of the Ants and crush all those who would oppose me!"

LOL

Ant Egg Oil - sounds like Snake Oil to me! There's a lot of these scam products out there, none of them work.

I tried epilating my chest recently. Initially it was smooth but now it has a rough feeling, probably the skin drying out. I also finally got over the fear of doing my legs, which was complete agony the first time. It's working out sort of OK but I get ingrown hairs, exfoliating helps release them.

I pluck the hairs around my nipples out with a tweezer, been doing that for a while and try to keep up with it. It's working out quite well and I don't get hairs appearing very often any more.

If you use some sort of moisturizing cream on the areas you just "plucked', it should help a good bit. I can't say if it works for arm pits. I THINK I tried it the first time I shaved `em, and it didn't help at all. As soon as you start sweating, it feels like they're on fire!!!! I sometimes use a body powder on them and, if I remember correctly, that DOES help, but only VERY slightly!! One thing that did help a bit was to put a few flat sheets of toilet paper in my pits, but, if you use your arms a lot, the paper will move or roll away and you have to keep running to the head to adjust it every 20 minutes or so!!

So the results of epilating has been so far pretty good. The hair growing back does not feel as itchy or prickly as when I shaved.

The only issue I currently have is that my chest area I have some acne build up. Nothing on my stomach. Not sure why, or what the cause could be. Any ideas??

I think I shall venture forward and do my legs today. Smile

You probably have ingrown hairs on your chest.

I don't know if this is the same thing you're all talking about, but, when I get in-growns, I just take a safety pin and stick it under the first layer of skin, under the hair and lift it out, then do what I need to do to remove it. It doesn't hurt at ALL!! If it wasn't me doing it, I might not even know it was being done!!
The kind of in-growns I'm talking about (if there's more than one kind) look just like a normal hair, but they have grown under the first layer of skin. Because it's so thin, you can see right through the skin and it just looks like a normal hair, until you go to shave it and no matter what you do, it WON'T shave.
