I passed on Dr. Z mainly because he isn't craniofacial certified. If you need lots of forehead reshaping, like I do, you want that qualification in your surgeon.
I prefer a more conservative surgeon, personally. I don't want to change my looks so much as to soften my appearance by removing the male puberty influences on brow boss, nose, upper lip, and adam's apple. I can live with my jaw and cheeks the way they are.
Voice surgery is really risky and normally only recommended after voice training has not achieved your goals. At least look into the surgical technique your doc is going to use on you. I would be concerned about a visible scar on your neck and the long post-surgery restrictions that you have to adhere to religiously for optimal results.

Ive come to the conclusion that to see anyone but "him" in the mirror wouldnt bother me a bit...
I do like the idea of his endoscopic approach rather than pretty much just peeling your face off and dremmeling the heck out of things then putting it back on a bit tighter Im not sure how that would all work with a scalp advancement...
BUT now that I think about that Im not sure I would even want or need to stretch out the scalp too much when Im considering A LOT of work with hair transplants...
I havent had a word at all with Dr Z yet, Im just impressed with his work, experience, and qualifications... MOST important for me though is that he is close to a very good friend of mine and my mother who would be there to help me recover... My GF will be going with me to the consultation and Im very excited about seeing her again and consulting with DR Z...
There is another it appears VERY good surgeon in Chicago that does FFS and even SRS.... Dr Loren Schecter... Hard to find any info on him though, good or bad... Aside from a few unsatisfied breast cancer reconstruction patients, and Im thinking most women wont be very happy there no matter what... I considered consulting with this guy for everything but I dont like the way he uses a graft for SRS and Im pretty sure Id need one with him... Also cant find anyones experience with having SRS with him.... And while he is certainly capable it appears and a maxillo facial surgeon as well as a plastic surgeon I need to see at least some good results there as well... Cant find anything on him except that he is a contributor to the WPATH guidelines... http://www.uplasticsurgery.com/loren-s-schechter-m-d/
The voice thing, well I cant really see mine getting much better... Not looking forward to having a scar or the recovery either but its a risk Im GOING to take... Im actually looking forward to getting that over and done with...
