Project X (hrt)

You're right, check this out:

In most people, when sugar in any form is consumed, the pancreas releases insulin. Breast tissue, for example, contains insulin receptors, and insulin is a powerful stimulant of cell growth. One group of Australian researchers concluded that high levels of insulin and insulin-like growth factor (IGF) may actually be causative of cancers of the breast, prostate, endometrium and pancreas. A broad study conducted in 21 countries in Europe, North America and Asia concluded that sugar intake is a strong risk factor contributing to higher breast cancer rates, particularly in older women. A four-year study at the National Institute of Public Health and Environmental Protection in the Netherlands compared 111 biliary tract cancer patients with 480 healthy controls. Sugar intake was associated with more than double the cancer risk.

Yikes. That explains a lot now doesn't it. I mean I KNEW that sugar feeds cancer (overall) but to have it laid out like that esp re insulin receptors in the breasts, maybe that explains why high alcohol consumption in women contributes to high rates of breast cancer!

What an eye opener... Im glad you found that L Blush

Hey, Lotus, I am so sorry you are still in pain, honey. Sad
At least you are on the right path to revovery (and your boobies look as awesome as always....damn you...tee hee)

Hugs, sweetheart!

Oh, and caffeine withdrawals also cause headaches, don't they?

Thanks Sammie, very true!. Wink

Lol, I've gotten headaches from too much coffee, and then again going cold turkey without for days. To answer you're question, yes and no. Caffeine causes migraines but it's also used to relieve migraines, so go figure.

Quote:Caffeine alone or combined with other drugs can relieve tension-type and migraine headaches in some people, by blocking adenosine receptors and blood vessels which result in the release of excitatory [brain chemicals called] neurotransmitters, and constriction of blood vessels in the brain.

Nope not to me, WP was the only thing I used after stopping my program and still saw some growth. Adding Dim makes sense though, granted it increases E metabolism, which is a plus if you think about it (gets rid of the bad E 16-hydroxyestrogen) So I'd say good move, keep us updated. Wink

sorry for ignorance, but what is dim? and there is bad estrogen??? i have ssooooo much to learn...Tongue

From your link,

Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a compound derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol (I3C), found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage. On average 10-20 percent of I3C is metabolized to DIM. When you chew raw or lightly cooked cruciferous vegetables, plant enzymes are activated, which allows Diindolylmethane (DIM) to enter your body.

The most active dietary indole is in cruciferous vegetables, a healthy stimulus for the useful metabolism of estrogen in women and men. When Diindolylmethane (DIM) increases the “good” estrogen metabolites, there is a simultaneous reduction in the levels of “bad” estrogen metabolites. Research has shown “4-hydroxy” and “16-hydroxy” estrogens to be promoters of inflammation and impact the normal growth of cells. These bad estrogen metabolites are responsible for many of estrogen’s undesirable actions in women and men, including further unwanted weight gain, breast cancer in women.

Good estrogens 2-hydroxy help maintain healthful levels of the catecholamine hormones that specifically stimulate enzymes in fat cells to release stored fat for energy. T

Diindolylmethane is the key to eliminating unwanted estrogen in men. Diindolylmethan (DIM) helps to eliminate active estrogen from the male body by promoting its conversion into the “good” metabolites. Estrogen metabolism slows as men age, especially when coupled with obesity and regular alcohol use. Men using DIM can minimize or avoid accelerating their testosterone metabolism, especially the unwanted conversion of testosterone into estrogen. Diindolylmethane demonstrates an anti-androgenic effect in prostate cancer by inhibiting effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), likely by directly competing for DHT at the androgen receptor. In 2007, the “National Cancer Institute” reported that men who consumed one cruciferous vegetable a week reduces prostate cancer risks by 52%. Supplementation with diindolylmethane resulted in reports of improved prostate function based on reduced nighttime urination in symptomatic older men.

This article is pretty interesting, it's slightly modified from its original text to make sense for NBE. Imo it's still missing a few components to make sense for bio-males on NBE or HRT. Anybody care to take a guess what those components might be?.

" Prolactin is normaly caused by progestins, but can also be caused by dht, how?
For example, it is currently understood that when testosterone enters the cell cytoplasm it is subsequently converted to the more "active" androgen, dihydrotestosterone, DHT, by reduction at the 5alpha position, this is normal. Dihydrotestosterone is then either bound to a cytoplasmic "receptor" protein Rc, or is further metabolized to either 5alpha-androstane-3alpha,17beta-diol or 5alpha-androstane-3beta,17beta-diol ,DIOL. The binding of DHT to its cytoplasmic receptor protein results in translocation of the steroid-receptor complex into the nucleus where presumably the complex dissociates and DHT exerts its androgenic effects.

The transport of DHT to the nucleus can also result from the conversion of testosterone to DHT by nuclear membrane-bound 5alpha-reductase. Prolactin augmentation of DHT effects is envisioned as resulting from interaction of prolactin with its receptor, which due to the large size of the prolactin molecule is probably located in or on the plasma membrane.

Large amounts of androgens look for a transporter so that it can bind to the androgen receptors, so it uses prolactin which has a high affinity to cytoplasmic receptor protein, allowing the androgens, testosterone, to be carried and allowing them to convert to dht, only problem is prolactin hormone or luteotropic hormone is synthesised and secreted by sex binding lactotrope cells in the adenohypophysis (anterior pituitary gland, And this gland now produces more prolactin to help deal with the large amount of testosterone circulating that hasn't bound to estrogen or androgen receptors.)

So more prolactin is produced to find a receptor, this excess prolactin triggers a process that fills the breast with milk via a process called lactogenesis, in men however it causes a distinct enlargment of the mammary gland and can even cause a man to lactate.

I'll need a little help lol, it's probably easier for you to translate the description, I tried and it didn't turn out for me. Blush
