Other options are to wash with an oatmeal soap or to soak in a bath in which you have dissolved a couple handfuls of oatmeal. Brown laundry soap (fels naptha) can sometimes help; it comes in a bar usually wrapped in paper. Perhaps calamine lotion. However, hydrocortisone cream is probably the easiest, assuming it is an allergic reaction. It might also help to take an antihistamine such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl). Just be careful since it can make a person drowsy and is also used as a sleep aid (Sominex).
