At the risk of being shot down or accused of not knowing what I am talking about, I see things on the forum which can have alarming effects of frightening people or an opinion being given with leaving members with doubts.

Well lets talk about Pueraria Mirifica, before I go deeper a good member on here called W2er gave me some advice and others, " listen to your body" well dead right, I for one did not and hell it nearly killed me BUT is PM the silent killer or are we scare mongering.

PM has been arounfd for hundereds of years and if it was that deadly it would have been withdrawn by now, not to say there are risks, there are risks with everything, I am allergic to Penicillin yet others are not and so on.

So in the interests of equal balance on PM I did loads of research and i was surprised to learn that HRT can cause more blood clots than PM, well I say, are we not telling members about the risk of HRT, make your own minds up on that.

Now using the tool AI and filtering out the nonsense and misleading information which AI can often lead you down the wrong path, I have cut and posted the following.

In my humble opinion PM looks to be safer than traditional HRT

Form your own opinions folks

Finally as Wee2er says "listen to your body"

Stay safe

AI Overview

While there is no direct evidence that Pueraria mirifica causes blood clots, its phytoestrogenic nature means it may carry a similar risk to traditional hormone replacement therapies, which are known to increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart disease.
People with a history of pulmonary embolism or other clotting disorders should avoid this supplement, and it is crucial to consult a doctor before taking it, especially if you are on blood thinners or have other estrogen-sensitive conditions.

Why the Concern About Blood Clots?

Phytoestrogens:
Pueraria mirifica contains phytoestrogens, compounds that can mimic estrogen in the body.
Hormone Therapy Risks:

Conventional estrogen hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has been linked to an increased risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart disease, and Pueraria mirifica is often marketed as an alternative to these therapies.

Who Should Be Cautious?
Individuals with clotting disorders:
If you have a history of thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, you should avoid Pueraria mirifica due to its phytoestrogen-like effects.
People on blood thinners:
Taking Pueraria mirifica with blood thinners like warfarin can worsen side effects, potentially leading to severe bleeding or bruising.
People with other health conditions:
Use caution if you have an estrogen-dependent neoplasia, liver dysfunction, or anemia.

I think much the same way. However, I wouldn't claim that PM would be safer than "official medical HRT" route. Both have some risks and to my knowledge nobody has done any proper studies comparing them.

PM is a powerful medicine, and also has side effects. There are very little research results, and dosage in those has been typically quite low. So we have only anecdotal evidence of that PM has likely some degree of blood clot risk. Also, muscle cramps at night are reported as side effects of PM, and also I have experienced those nightly cramps: They started when using large dose of PM, and went away when reducing the dosage. There is in my opinion a likely connection.

Conclusion: I believe "high" dosage of PM may be quite risky. Based on what I have learned here, the risks increase rapidly when approaching or exceeding 2000 mg oral intake of PM. Under 1500 mg may be mostly safe. I also believe individual variations can be very large.

It absolutely is not safer in any way. It is also absolutely ineffective compared to conventional HRT.

It is safe at the suggested dosage on the bottle (2x500mg/day, usually) and it is less effective than conventional HRT, obviously.

@HN the fact that you stopped using it doesn't instantaneously make it bad or useless. There are people who have been on it for years with great results and no health issues. If a person has thicker than usual blood I would suggest they stay away from it, or from any HRT, but in normal health conditions and maybe not at 90 years of age, a moderate dose of PM should not create any issue.
I think that "listen to your body" is a good enough advice, along with "don't exceed the suggested dosage".

I know, I've been around since March 2019 and I got great results from PM as you should well know.

Before conventional HRT just did it ten times better. Before PM resulted in DVT symptoms. And the thing about not exceeding 1000mg is a very good advice. The results, well they are what phytoestrogens can do which is what it is. I would add to that to check out blood clotting factors from time to time no matter the dosing. Especially for anyone over 40yo and anyone who smokes etc.

i have never had a problem with dvt while on blood thinning medication. i had a valve replaced in 1999 and have been on warfarin ever since. i have always wanted breasts and first started using pm in about 2020 but really only seriously since jan 2024 using ainterol 2 x 500mg a day but  with no luck regarding breast growth,
over the last year  + my inr (blood test results) have stayed pretty constant with 14 day tests, yes i have asked questions on here but that was for my own peace of mind, yesterday i asked about bo?, since pm has had little effect on me i thought bo would be the next venture especially since i am now on 5mg of finasteride for an enlarged prostate.
if i have been ok on pm then i thought bo would be even safer since some posts on here mention that bo has less side effects than bo.
i have also noticed that a few posters on here have also had heart surgery as they also have the zip scar on their chests so chances are many others are attempting to grow breasts while on various prescription meds including blood thinners ( once again i will state the pm and blood thinners have been ok with me).

so i have ordered  swansons bo and will probably give it a go even if its just for one month to see what the effects are, my post yesterday was to ask for advice and your experiences  with bo and how much safer it is rather than pm but unfortunatly i had no replies.

i would expect many on here are attemping to grow breasts with no medical checks so have no idea whats going on in the background,  i have blood tests every 14 days so in some respect i at least know whats happening with regular check ups, many of you  i expect will order pm and wing it and hope for the best!.

so i would still love to know about bo, here you have someone who can report the effects of bo while on blood thinners and the info i can pass onto the forum will help others who are in a similar postion, the difference with me compared to many is that i have bought and am wearing the tee shirt so when i tell you how something effects me its as it is and not by someone who is not going through tests or taking blood thinners, yes i accept we are all different and meds affect us in different ways but you will at least have a report on meds and nbe from someone who is attempting to grow breasts all be with one hand tied behind my back.

i would still like to know about bo and its effects lol.

I'd now add to my initial thought....

'Listen to your body and be sensible'

Probably sums it all up quite nicely Smile

exactly, many will be scared of using pm because of some comments on here but to be honest if your on blood thinners then you have to be under medical supervision so will be able to alter what you do  rather than those who have never visited a doc for years but pop pills and hope for the best, some of us are in a better position than those who think they are healthy because they have had no need to visit the docs.
i will help with anyone who is wondering about taking pm and the effects and i can do that honestly because  i can tell you exactly how it is rather than someone warning you off it because they have read it somewhere. 25 years of blood thinners and other meds and 18 months of 1000mg pm a day gives me a voice and an opinion on whats helps, it never helped me lol cause i`m still titless and its pissing me off bigtime but now i intend to use bo and i would love others to have an imput so if your using bo and on meds please have a comment, if your using this site for knowledge etc then give something back to others.
now to upset a few.....

have a comment on what you know but don`t put others off pm,bo or whatever if you have never gone through a particular health issue, in my case blood thinners, if your on it then you are covered for dvt better than those who are not on blood thinners, besides we are monitored and you healthy people are not so we know whats happening.

its very simple, listen to what your body says and if you on blood thinners then you are already getting checked for blood clots.

would still love to know about bo though and its effect with meds.

anyone???????

what i want to do is debunk some of the fears many will probabbly have if they are under medical supervision providing the have medical follow ups when taking blood thinners as i do, i know exactly where i stand every 14 days.
if anyone has questions then please message me and i will be honest with you as to how what i am taking effects me, i am saying effects me because with you it might be different but if you are under check ups for blood thinners then you would already know how it will be moving forward, start light and check the continue if your happy then get checked again. your body will talk to you most times but still get regular check ups.
my max on pm was 500 morning and 500 night and i was ok with that, started just on 500mg for one week then added another and never went past it.

it never bloody worked though for me so i hope you have better luck lol.

i don`t want to remain titless all my life and at 66 i want to move on, i want the jiggle shake rattle and roll before its to late!!!!
