I absolutely HATE! the growing back bit though, esp the darker/courser hairs and all the prickly, stabby, pinchy feeling I get.
I`m dead lucky that my arm hair is near zero, the outside of my calves is near zero too, and I`v never been brave enough to do armpits yet (going on the other stuff I HAVE done and felt that regrowth).
I`m a bit of a chicken really.

I did read an article that seemed to sugest that 5 to 7 years using an epilator will permanently damage the hair folical beds, and stop growth.
