If there were regulations, the company would simply pay the fine for misconduct, or bribe the regulators.
Near where I live there's a chemical plant that keeps failing the EPA's toxic emissions standards. Rather than buy a new filter, which would solve the problem, they pay the fines each month and continue to poison us. No one seems to mind though. Football is on lmao.....
Corporations are legally required to make as much money as possible for their shareholders, so one could argue that the corporation itself is not to blame.
