I wonder what would happen if makers of Vitamin C put on their labels that it treats and cures scurvy? Vitamin D and rickets? Beriberi and Vitamin B1? Although, Congress and the FDA are trying to regulate supplements. (I'll have to get back to you on this, after I get another email on the subject.) As for growing your own, you can grow your own nut trees. However, I have heard it said of these trees, walnut and pecan, that they are "Trees that you plant for your grandchildren." They tend to be slow growers. My mother planted a pecan tree and in ten years, it produced one nut.
