I have never been on either Twitter or Facebook and have no intention of starting now.

I used to have a Facebook page. You're not missing much. Zuckerberg and company don't care one wit about anyone's privacy as long as they keep making money off violating their own security policy. For a while there, things changed so often and without warning that I decided to delete, not just deactivate, my account. It has caused me to lose contact with nearly everyone I know, including people in real life. Nobody responds to email because it is easier to just post random crap in your personal stream and read everyone else's stream. This way, people stay minimally connected without actually being connected at all. It is an illusion.

As for Twitter, I've never had an account. These days, many people integrate their Twitter and Facebook accounts so their Twitter stream and Facebook stream are mirrors of each other. All I can tell you is that most of what is posted on Twitter is little more than twaddle. I personally couldn't care less that my friend or former co-worker just got done mowing the lawn, etc.

And, not that it really matters, but I make my living as an IT professional. I just don't embrace social networking the way so many others do.
