A Cautionary Tale for Autogynephiles

#2

People just need to be brutally honest with themselves and take it very slowly before GRS, these cases seem to be far more common (while still very rare) for transitions that happened in the 80s when the standards of care weren't so well developed.

Now most of them are avoided by requiring extensive psychiatric assessment and years of full-time real life experience (which seem to be 2 things that weren't done in this case), then psychiatric revaluation and approval before GRS.

HRT's effects is one thing, almost everything else is reversible except breasts (and some people stay permanently sterile), but GRS is another, a completely irreversible process that will dramatically change your life (including cutting off your natural hormones so theres no way back). Personally I feel, having some trepidation before GRS is perfectly normal, which is why I'm not sure if I will ever be ready for it and I don't feel weird about it, I'd rather take 10 years living full-time before I take the leap.

Not everyone is the same, others know from a very young age, have intense very specific gender dysphoria, even in these cases HRT and RLE are required. But that shouldn't preclude late onset people from considering GRS, just they should take their time.

Also there are plenty of MTF that are happy and still only attracted to women, and many success stories of lesbian trans women being accepted by other lesbians, however if the only reason to transition is purely sexual then there is something wrong imo.

But nonetheless, these stories are an important warning!
