I must say that a file size of 500kb is rather big if the images are only 300x200 pixels. I have images on my own computer which are 6 times those dimensions, but are still less than 100kb. We haven't had any problems with file sizes before, but I can always change the size limits. What type of images are you trying to upload. Are they jpg format or gif? If you can tell me what the format of the files is I can look into it further.
