Hi, pre-anything MtF here, 21 years old. I've owned four bottles of Swanson Ovarian Glandular from Amazon for a year now. Read somewhere that they're good for up to two years of the manufacturing date, which is later this year in September. I started taking them a week ago. I'm taking one a day for now, and I plan to gradually increase the dosage.
The first result I got were thin, soft hairs along my arms, and an inch-long one on my right cheek. A friend told me it's common for women when they get an unusual spike in E. There's some pressure in my chest, but no changes yet, nor do I expect any at this dosage. I wanna let my body get used to this stuff first. I've had a headache and general drowsiness for a day now.
I worry every time I take another pill though. I can't help but worry about the source of the bovine. The bottles say it's from Argentinian cattle (got them before the bottle information was changed/made more vague), and there's a "negligible risk" of BSE (mad cow) for Argentina. I could live with that. I'm just not sure how much I should trust Swanson. Is there any system in place that would prevent them from claiming it comes from anywhere they want?
Also, the product isn't FDA-approved. They do however claim that the ovaries are tested at GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) labs, which are registered with the FDA. Can the labs detect BSE? Is there proof that Swanson even goes through GMP?
Sorry for my paranoia, vCJD (basically the human form of mad cow disease) just scares the hell out of me, though if I'm not mistaken, only under 300 people have died from it worldwide? Have any of them died from BO though Have there been any confirmed or unconfirmed stories of people getting vCJD from BO?
