Well BB, the appointment today was with a Gender Doctor. I would guess he's in his early 50's and gay. He is not an endo, but that was his secondary rotation before becoming a full fledge M.D.
He does Tons, and tons of outreach work with the LGBT community here in Iowa. He goes to support groups to let people know that there is a very friendly Trans-Gender doctor in the area. He also goes around to local hospitals and checks on any trans gendered patience strictly as a social call type thing.
I am hoping he will call me back and ask me to come in to start my HRT this next week. But that depends on his conversation with my regular M.D. and my Therapist.
BTW, a lot of people don't know that doctors in the U.S. have to have background in psychology and do at least one rotation at a mental institution or Outpatient Clinic that helps with Mental Health issues. Even my daughter, who is an LPN had to do that as well before she could graduate. I would assume it's that way in most Western Style countries too.... I just don't have the personal knowledge of that.
