Kari,
I assume your health issue is diabetes (Type II) or pre-diabetes, something that I have been fighting for 15 years. I gave up high glycemic foods altogether. Well, except at Thanksgiving and an occasional ice cream sundae. After awhile you get used to avoiding most breads, cereals, corn, rice, even pasta. Forget pastries, candy and many fruits with high sugar content (oranges). I will NOT give up my daily glass of Burgundy wine though. I'd rather die. Other than that, I've avoided becoming diabetic as a result of that discipline, and have kept my weight in check pretty well, too. My hat is off to you for making the commitment to protecting your health.
I sure wish I could grow my hair out as you are. Unfortunately, I would look a lot like Ben Franklin in the end...LOL.
