Another thing in my past that today’s world of PC minded, do gooders might consider 'outrageous' ...
I was head of a very seriously important computer department - a local government computer system with thousands of online users.
We used to have 5 pint lunches every day!!!!!! (ie 5 pints of 5% plus beer).
Yet, we had ICL coming down to us to understand how we managed to get their mainframe computers to be 99.9% reliable for up-time, how we managed to have our on-line in-house developed systems at the same level (which meant they were 100% reliable) - our team was in charge of computer standards and the stats were true - not some manipulated gobbly-de-gook.
So, thats another part of an 'outrageous'' life which I loved at the time but which got me in the end - I was the last in the team of 5 to survive the stress - I spent a week in our local 'mental hospital' (from choice - twas the best thing I ever did).
5 pint lunches - go for it I say
