Hello everyone,

A while back I tried PM and after about three months I got a DVT.  I quickly got off PM  went through my course of blood thinners and things are back to normal.  I never went back to PM as I concerned about clotting

I did read that estrogen can also cause DVT if taken orally.  I just wanted feedback on using Patches and the reduced incidence of DVT

Thanks everyone

Scary stuff. I took PM for a few years before switching to HRT pills between the gum and cheek(buccal)

The way I understand it, it's mainly swallowing pills that causes this risk, buccal or under the tongue(sublingual) doesn't have as high of a risk of DVT though it's near impossible to not sometimes swallow some of it so it probably isn't the best method for you, especially since there are alternatives like the patch. Swallowing also causes it to pass through the liver which is rough on it, and the liver turns it into estrone, which is a weaker estrogen that's not that effective.

Thanks for the reply  I would choose patches because I have started reading some about it  I'm happy to hear from someone  thank you so much

I took a relatively low dose of PM (500mg daily three to four times a week) and ended up with a DVT after several months. Took blood thinners and also took a break from PM. After a few months, I decided to start dosing via suppositories, which I made myself (easy, with coconut oil and a lower amount of PM). It was a bit of a pain but was likely safer. I even ordered up my own blood test after a couple of months to see if my d-dimer levels were indicative of a clotting problem...levels were fine.

***The above was not a suggestion. Don't risk your health based on what I've written!***

Anyway, I started estradiol patches at the beginning of 2022. Less stress over a DVT risk, easier, cheap, and way more effective. I've had to switch to 1/4 of my original dose because changes are happening too quickly. I suggest you go with patches if you're older, have a family history of issues, etc. etc.

Thank you  That is my plan  I appreciate the insight

Hello, sestra.

DVT from oral estrogen supplements is not common, but it is a known possible result.   One way to counter that, if you're still interested, would be to build up slowly and include t-blockers with your routine.

Thank you   can you suggest a T-blocker as I am not sure of what is out there

Topical is an option as well.

And what about Natural Estriol USP Cream?

For example: https://www.biovea.com/uk/product/detail...2-oz-60ml/

Which cream do you think is more effective: Pueraria Mirifica or Natural Estriol USP?
