I purchased the last bottle of Swanson BO from Amazon in early Dec 2020.  In the meantime, I found a product that sounded similar to Swanson BO called Standard Process Ovex (Amazon).  Ovex was available but I was concerned about prion issues so I decided to try Ovex-P (OP), which is a porcine derived product.  The OP was available immediately so I ordered a bottle while I waited for the Swanson BO.

OP results:  I took a pill before bed and woke up the next morning with wood: very unusual for me, so maybe something was happening?  I had some stomach pains with the first pill and reread the instructions: take with food.  The next day I took a second pill, with food, and that night I woke up at 2 AM with hot flashes and some breast area tightness.  The major side effect was high blood pressure. On the second day my BP rose as high as 190/90.  I did some stuff to lower it immediately.

I checked the ingredients list and found nothing that would have caused the high BP except for the unknown ovarian ingredients (?).  I waited 2 days and then took one quarter of a pill for a couple of days.  My BP was slightly elevated.

My Swanson purchased finally arrived from Amazon (I stopped the OP).  Instead of the Swanson BO that I ordered, I received Swanson Multi-Glandular (MG).  It has 150 mg of ovarian and 150 mg of uterus tissues along with some other organ tissues.  I was not too happy, but took a pill anyway.  12 hours after taking the pill I had some fairly strong feelings of anxiety.  I have not had this type of feeling for 30+ years.  When I woke up the next day I felt like I had a hangover and feeling very tired.  On the positive side, I had no BP issues.

I am thinking about continuing with the OP pill in reduced dosage and see if my BP can be controlled to the point that I can take a normal dose.  I am going to have to think about the MG pills.  The anxiety feeling was not pleasant.

I would be interested to find out if anyone else has had similar experience.

Hi Thegirl
Your doing the right thing by listening and watching your body.
Maybe you can return the BO wannabe to amazon and tell them the substitution was not agreeing with your body, and you need to return it.
Maybe PM would be a better choice for you??

Estrogen can make you retain water which increases blood pressure, did you notice you were holding more water than usual?

Careful, that's a really high blood pressure. I'd find another avenue or what's going on before continuing with the BO.

Thanks for your reply and input.

Yes, BP was an issue and I lowered it pretty quickly with Viagra.  I am stopping both glandulars for awhile and let things go back to normal before making a decision on what to do next.  I had some positive results with a few months of FG use (serum directly on the breast) in the nipple sensitivity area.  I know FG is pretty slow acting, but PM also causes my BP to increase.  Still trying to figure things out.  I plan to work on it slowly.  I posted this thread to see if others are or did have issues similar to mine or different issues.  I have not found much on this or other websites that discuss adverse side effects.

Thanks again,

Well Thanks to you TG1951!
I always had normal to low BP until I hooked up with my now wife.
I always blamed her but now its clear that it was the PM, BO and what ever other NBE herb I was on. that was doing it.
I came out to my wife when we were dating and sometime after that started NBE, and thats when BP started to rise.
I also had a blood clot in my leg last summer, and the best I can think, it had to have been a result of the PM (E) I had been taking for the past 6 years.
So I'm off all that stuff, except I do a BO nipple cream every day and that seem to be making me a lot rounder.
I also Noogle when I have the chance. too

Does PM have such strong side effects? That makes me a little worried. I'm sorry to hear you suffered so much Bobbi.  I hope you recovered from the clot and from all the stress.

Regarding the BO cream, how does it work? And may i ask what brand it is?

It appears that the PM side effects are very individual, some get something, others get it worse, some have none of it. For me the side effects came only when I was using different brand(s) than Ainterol and was on a high dose. I got leg cramps, emotional mess, fatigue and generally feeling bad. It never lasted for very long and taking a break cleared it all.

Since I switched solely on Ainterol XX anniversary PM, none of the side effects have shown, I've been on only Ainterol for about three months no, no ill effects. But this happens to coincide with adding a lot of milk + cheese etc to my diet along with vitamin D3. There might be a link as I'm not trying to make sure I get enough calcium.

Anyway, PM 'might' give you nasty side effects, or it may not. From what I've read and experienced, there's only one way to really find out. I think I've found what works on me without issues, but it may very well be different for anyone else.

Thanks HelloDidi for sharing your experience, i use the same exact brand of PM right now, and i still haven't felt any bad feeling (one week now). From tomorrow i'm moving to 1000mg, let's hope it does work fine without any issue, because i honestly don't plan going further than 1000mg.

And yeah, i agree on the Calcium, taking supplements and trying to take more lactose-free milk in the morning, don't want to feel the weakness i experienced last month while on PM extract. :P

Don't know much about Vitamin D3 though.

Side effects are/can be serious.  I have read a large fraction of these threads WRT BO, PM and other herbs and I have not seen much discussion on this site or other sites about side effects

(maybe I didn't look hard enough?)

.  I guess those people are the lucky ones who are not as sensitive to drugs as I am.

I am very careful with taking new stuff.  I have had DVT and PE and I am on blood thinners.  According to websites like WebMD and Rx.com some of these herbs (e.g. FG, Fennel, etc) can increase your bleeding potential and you need to be very careful if you are on blood thinners.  I have my own IRN machine (for Warfarin monitoring) and can monitor the potential effect of herbs on my potential bleeding issues.  You can modify your diet with increase vitamin K to counteract the bleeding effects of some of these herbs.  If you are on a blood thinner that cannot be monitored via an IRN measurement (e.g.

Eliquis, etc) you really need to be aware of the deadly threat of increased bleeding with some herbs.

I have mentioned blood pressure as another deadly side effect of different NBE therapies and I don't see much mention of this in the postings (maybe I didn't look hard enough?).  For about $40 (US) you can get a BP measuring device from Amazon.  High BP is not something that you can "feel" in most cases and can kill you.  I have had terrible luck with PM, BO and FG WRT to BP.  FG is suppose to lower your BP, but for me it increases it a bit.  Fennel is another herb that is suppose to lower BP and I have used it to some positive effect when taking FG.

Bottom-line; I still blindly feeling my way in this NBE operation.

Hi Alexis,
Thanks for your well wishes. I'm fine now but I love to figure out what caused these problems..I'm a kinda fix it girl..
I like to share my successes and failures here to help others and I learn a lot for everyone too. There is no right answer here for everyone.

I make my own BO cream.
I just break 2 capsules of Swansons BO into a small bowl, and add Aloe Vera gel (the purest you can get) usually about 1 to 2 tablespoons will be enough, and mix well. Put a lid on it, and if you use the creme twice a day it should last a week or more.

Clean your nipple area with Alcohol, let it dry, and add enough creme to cover your nipple and Areola, unless they are very large, then just about 1" in diameter will do.
Put the nipple protectors on, and I like to wear a bra with some padding so that my breasts stay warm and the nipple protectors wont come off.

BO likes to build fat and Aloe is an excellent carrier. The body will soak up the Aloe and the BO goes along for the ride.
This concentrates the BO effects more on the breasts and avoids the nasty habit of building fat in the belly and hips.
