Well after about 4 years of much sitting on the fence and starting not to enjoy the splinters, I have my first appointment with a gender clinic on Friday this week (wait times are long as hell in the UK though I was referred April 2017!)

I am also one signature away from technically no longer being insert male name but having a female name.

However given my past medical history am waiting to see what happens at my appointment Friday and the subsequent one in a few months before anything else happens as whilst I could self medicate for a lot longer, I would sooner be in the system and for everything to be above board so to speak, plus there are certain parts of my anatomy I would be happy to be rid of!

So thinking back to when I first posted on here some four years ago one of the first threads I read was about getting more than you expect from bovine ovary. So yes maybe I did, but I don't think it played an active part in my decision making there was however a lot of soul searching and self realisation done in the first two years of my journey. I think I was always going to end up at this point it is certainly better than some of the other alternatives!

Good luck tomorrow Megan, am sure it must go okay. They only have to take a glance to see you are quite pretty and serious about who you are. Assuming that is you (looking slightly sad) in the avatar?
Yep that is me in the picture with the aid of the Snapchat female filter. I just don't photograph very well to be honest so usually look a little morose in photos. It's wierd I thought I looked nothing like that irl but other than the make up and the eyebrows I do sort of resemble the photo a little more now than I did. The photo also makes me look about 10 years younger though!

Well name change is official now (sort of) have the deed poll all signed so technically I have now changed name just need to start getting it changed when ready.

It's hit home this week how very real this all is now, its both scary and exciting at the same time!

Yeah Megan!
I'm sure your future will be brighter and happier every day from here on out.
Please do you best to keep posting as there are many fence sitters that havent got tired of the splinters, and can use some encouragement

I know just how overwhelming it can seem. I few days ago I scheduled an appointment with my doctor. Took a lot of bravery taking that step. But good luck, this will bring you closer to your goal. Smile
We'll first appointment down and one to go in about 4 months. I felt it went okay, I presented about as female as i can given i cant shave for electrolysis although the breasts and long hair were i guess good signs of how seriously i am taking it. Nothing to horrendous in terms of questioning either.

Medical factors may still play a part but i did emphasise that surely it would be better for my hrt to be supervised properly than me just taking it off my own bat. Have a blood test to see where my hormones are though, will be interesting as i am definitely feel i am just running on estrogen, and other than feeling a little cranky at times i am mostly feeling great.

Feeling mentally drained though now so am having a very early night, transitioning is definitely exhausting!

Congratulations Megan.
Yes the long hair is good but am guessing presenting a pair of boobs that would make some females jealous probably tipped them off that you're serious. I wouldn't have bothered asking questions after taking one look at those.
