I use it as part of my HRT regime, it's supposed to help stop the conversion of T to DHT. Spiro, btw, is supposed to help lower your actual T.
Also good for regrowing hair!
I was on it for about 2 years, to deal with a prostate issue.

Was it effective in dealing with the prostate issue? I assume the issue was BPH?
I've been on 5mg Finasteride daily for over 5 years, for BHP.
I would say it has had some effect on the BHP, but not eliminated it completely.
It's difficult to say if it had any effect on helping boob growth, and it certainly hasn't stopped their volume reduction after stopping PM.
It has had zero effect on male pattern baldness - I have noticeably less head hair now than I had 5 years ago!Sad

Hi, Pansy,
Not sure it would help - head hair being what it is - but ask the Doc about Dutasteride.
I had similar issues, and Dad had a bad operation for BPH...

There are two paths for T to convert to DHT. Finasteride blocks one path; Dutasteride blocks most of the second, too. Dutas is better at blocking DHT, basically, so would make sense to ask. I would guess that DHT comes from the testes and the adrenals. The mechanism maybe affects which T is converted, basically. So, Finasteride blocks the Testes origin; Dutasteride blocks the adrenals as well, mostly. 97%, I think it was.

Finasteride had almost no effect on me; dutasteride helps. (But head hair is too far gone for me. :-( )

Forgot to ask why OP is asking. Is it for hair or anti androgen?
The finesteride definitely shrunk my prostate and helped control my BPH but my psa kept rising and I was diagnosed with cancer. After my surgery to remove it, my Dr said that I had a very small prostate, most likely from the usage of finastetide.
My doctor took me off Fin temporarily. My LH hormone was slightly elevated and she wanted to make sure nothing else was going on. So, for the last month, I haven't done any NBE or PC just so I can have an accurate test.

Hopefully, next week she will put me back on after my blood test.

But, for me, the only thing Fin did for me, was to slow down my beard growth, not much change for prostate or head hair.Dodgy
