I am thinking about GTE ( green tea extract ) to help me with my dieting and BE.

Does anyone really have any good experience, and if so, how much?

I would like to loose quite a bit off of my tummy and don't want to needlessly spend money, if it's not a good investment.
Well, I don't have personal experience with green tea extract, but my significant other does. My girlfriend tried a lot of different things to help her loosing, or maintaining, weight: green tea extracts from different manufacturers, CLA again from different companies and other formulations promising to be helpful in weight loss. So far, nothing was working, only cutting calories and working out...

As for green tea and BE I really can't tell...

The polyphenols in green tea help you burn calories via increasing the metabolic rate. The tea quality is real important though, otherwise I don't think it'll help convert fat to fuel (energy).

I like what green tea has done for me, I believe it's a good fit with NBE/hrt because of its ability to promote aromatase (genetic males), inhibit prostate & breast cancer, scavenge free radicals, inhibit DHT, etc, etc. Wink

Make sure you stay on top of iron levels, GTE depletes iron. I found a 98% polyphenols decaf GTE extract, (getting 5-8 cups per day plus 6-8 cups of filtered water a day makes one swim), if you know what I mean lol.

I think exercising is the surest way to lose weight in the long-term. It doesn't have to require a gym membership or paying for workout videos, just walking and running on a regular basis can make a big difference.
I know Green Tea, in and of itself, is suppose to fight cancer and other nasty's. And I am getting more walking in..... just hoping to find another silver bullet is all...
Silver bullet?,

It's the stubborn visceral fat in the belly that's the battle. CLA, forskolin, caprylic acid (new to nbe?), the realease of Leptin is what makes sense to me. Either reduce estrogens and raise T which burns visceral fat........hey!, don't skewer me on that one, it's an temp. alternative. Rolleyes
I'm what is called a Non-responder, which means I get almost no benefit from exercise, which sucks.

Going to waffle a bit here.

I started working hard at losing weight at the start of the year and was getting nowhere fast. After talking with Huggy I started to do a bit more in-depth research (thanks Huggy!) and put together a plan that included Green Tea with a slice of lemon.

I also did (well still do) 3 minutes of HIT (High Intensity Training) each week. This number is VERY important, as when I was doing HIT every day it hindered my weight loss. The body needs time between each session to work its magic. One minute 3 days a week, broken down into three 20 second bursts at maximum capacity.

The GT and HIT worked very well together, and I managed something that had never happened for me before, my belly went down! I lost about 3 inches in 1 month. I also greatly cut down on the amount of processed food I was eating, which is important for anyone struggling to shed the pounds (or for good health in general). I should also point out that this was a month where I was sick and unable to exercise for at least 2 weeks.

HIT won’t suit everyone, and if you have a pre-existing medical condition get a medical examination before you start.

Also, walking can more than double your metabolic rate. I tend to just use the exercise bike for 10 - 15 minutes of moderate pedalling twice a day when not doing the HIT to get that.

Sorry for all that, but while GT is helpful, more is needed to get real results. With the right knowledge weight loss can be far less difficult than most believe.
Lots of "food for thought", at least that kind of food shouldn't put more on in the belly.... LOL... I know, get unretired and quit trying to be a comedian.....

I think maybe I will dabble with most suggestions except the more T one.... Sorry Lotus, it took me a couple of years to start enjoying the fact that with my medical problems and meds were feminizing me to go down that road again.....

I am at the point in my life, that having spent busting my buns for other's, having a couple of high pressure jobs...... It's time for ME.. To be a little more selfish and not always do what other's want me to do, but to do what I am wanting and comfortable with..

That's where I am right now in my life... Realistically, with my major heart attack 12 yrs back, I figure at almost 62, I may have what??? 20 yrs left, and that's only maybe if the man upstairs decides I am worthy... So, it's time for me to be comfortable with who, and where I am at....

I will never be a pretty woman, and as I am now, I am comfortable with my man and woman parts. But, I want to be the best I can possibly be.

Enough rambling though... Thanks everyone so far with putting their "nickel's worth" in.
For those seeking to lose the waist, the intra-abdominal fat?
As Lotus noted, increasing T works.
Also, exercise, BRUTAL exercise. HIIT twice a day for 10-20 minutes. Make your body sweat like a pig. Twice a day because you'll get a better effect from more exercise for shorter duration (goes to intensity and to peeling off the fat via Post-Exercise Oxygen deficit. You have to pay off the debt.)
Take it from my experience, one long session isn't as effective as two short sessions. Do dance, do yoga, do weights, do swimming, do spinning, whatever, but GET active, and STAY active for your 20 minutes.
If possible, do more during the day.
Say, 20 sets of 20 mountain climbers... And don't WALK the stairs, RUN a flight or two. (then walk, you'll be winded. ;-) )

More frequent shorter duration exercise will work better. The marathon sessions I like? They DO do damage to your joints. They DON'T make it any faster.
Elements Yoga has Yoga for weight loss, it's a great system, especially if you can do it as fasted cardio (and it's truly FASTED cardio, mind.)

We live in an era too dominated with labor-saving devices and technology. We NEED physical activity. Look at the dog, the cat, the rabbits, the ants... Take lessons from them, don't sit around all day and watch...

One of the options for the Kuerigs at work is Green Tea. I go for one of those (like just today) when I want caffeine, but less than coffee or other teas. Green tea also has theanine in it which is calming (not an aim of mine). If you're looking for a supplement for the latter, check out Suntheanine.

If the aim is to lose weight, here are a few supplement options less often considered that may help.

Guarana. Read some of the reviews for this. Some, women in particular, say it helps them lose belly paunch.

Forskollin and L-Carnosine (not together). Both of these, especially Forskollin, will have you...pardon for the expression...$#it for Texas! I find both of these a bit too much and easier just to eat less to begin with. But you'll feel lighter on your feet.

L Carnitine Fumarate - This, like Guarana (but not in the same way), will help put ants in your pants...more activity, burn more calories.

And if you ever find yourself in a rowing competition, try Glycine Propionyl L-Carnitine! Max dose of that and you'll climb the walls! Like being a Border Collie, you'll have to have something very active to do or you'll go nuts! Smile
