I haven't posted in quite a while but I still lurk frequently.
I did want to ask if anyone here experiences increased muscle twitching (fasciculations) on PM. I have read that estrogen can definitely cause them and was curious if the calf fasciculations I experience (gotten to the point of being downright annoying) could be caused by the PM.
Any thoughts?

I've been using PM for 2 months so far and haven't experienced any. Though I generally experience them when I am exhausted or have had too little sleep. Perhaps this is the reason for yours?
I haven't drawn that conclusion, but.... the muscle that runs from shoulder to breast has started twitching some. Especially in the late afternoon while watching news or just sipping coffee. Hmmmm, dunnno.

I'm at almost 2 years on PM (except for a few breaks). I started noticing the twitching about a year ago. For the longest time I assumed they were due to a back injury but I now know that's highly unlikely.
Mine are very frequent and last for hours at a time. They're definitely not due to exertion or exhaustion, but thanks for the input!

Mine are most prominent when I'm "at rest" as well (really bad at night). Not painful but the consistency and duration can almost drive you insane.

I've had them since my early teens, and only been on PM 2 years, so I don't think they're linked, I'm more likely to get them when stressed and/or fatigued.

I think the only time I've observed any muscle twitching is when I'm in bed and I wake up suddenly or something. I suspect it has more to do with a sudden disruption in my sleeping cycle than a side-effect of pm.

I was kind of hoping that the PM was behind the twitching I'm experiencing and could be managed with a reduced dose. It probably isn't, however. From what I have read over the past few days the twitching is benign (which is good because it isn't life threatening or debilitating, just annoying, and also bad because no one is doing any research into the cause or developing any treatments).
I've come to the inescapable conclusion that getting older really sucks!

Are you taking an medication that may induce twitching as a side-effect? I got some really bad hand tremors when I was taking Effexor XR. Fortunately, the hand tremors stopped soon after I discontinued the medication.

The only regular medication I take is Crestor. Like all statins Crestor can cause nerve issues (but none of the reports I have read talk about fasciculations -- they all concentrate on more serious issues like myopathy). I have been on statins now for over 20 years. I am switching to generic Lipitor next month, not because of side-effects but because my insurance won't cover the high cost of Crestor any longer. I'll see if it makes a difference.
