Well .. I decided to take a small break from pm . I forced myself to stop for 10 days, ( but keeping up the AA`s ect) I found I lost some tenderness in the nipple area and my night time visits from Mr happy ended up waking me up again. According to my S.O I have been moody and unhappy all weekend. Luckily today is day 11, so I started
back on the pm this morning. Its amazing how 3 little drops can make you feel !!! I already feel some extra tenderness, and I actually feel mentally better.
Another thing I noticed, I had no urges to dress up for the last few months, but over the weekend it was getting very hard to ignore the feelings that had returned. I suspect if I had been alone in the house I would have got dressed up. As it was, I did manage to do some window shopping, but held off pulling out the visa.
I don't take PM, but I've read people have to gradually stop or their who hormonal balance will be out of control. Glad you feel better now. Why did you decide to take a break?

I`m only taking what most would call a maintenance dose. But, I also realize I could still become estrogen dominant. So i figure a break once in a while is good.

Ok, I see now. Thank you.
I've read quite a few times where taking PM reduces the urge to dress or "explore" your feminine side but never really understood why. One would think by taking PM it would only enhance things further but it seems to be doing the opposite?? Anyone come across a reasonable explanation for this ?

I was wondering if there is any consensus on cycling (taking a break from herbs) -how often and for what duration. I am just starting a break (cold turkey) after about 3 months. Did I wait too long or is it too soon? How long should I stay off. I was thinking of a week but Janet's 10 days might be better.

Does a regular fixed cycle seem reasonable? For example x days on and y days off. And should you cycle different components of your program differently?

Right now the only thing I am cycling regularly is PC - 10 days on each month.

What I've see here so far is that cycling seems to be haphazard. Would a fixed schedule be better?

I think one of the big theories is that for a Genetic male with gender dysphoria, it is caused by neurological/physiological feminization of the brain in the womb during the second trimester. So you have a brain with a bunch of female wiring, and estrogen receptors, in a body that can never satisfy them. Low dose HRT and bang, receptors filled, things working as designed, and everything goes from GD hell, to actually pretty good. This is why some gender therapists will use low dose hrt as a diagnostic tool. Appearentally people who present appearing to have GD that do not, don't feel better on low dose HRT.

Denita in the "Born this Way" thread might have some actual research threads to this end posted.

I can scrounge references if you need them.

I'm not able to vouch for anyone else, but I do feel emotionaly better on a low dose of pm than without.
I try not to take my PM on weekends (my own reasons). I am usually not happy about it, but I endure to do so. Today particularly I was not happy about it, I knew it probably was due to not taking my PM on Saturday and today (Sunday). But, usually it is not that bad, especially since I still take my other stuff like maca, and flax seeds.

This theory has been discussed quite frequently in the past, based on a paper by Dr Anne Vitale ( do a search). It certainly works that way for me, 2 x500mg Pm per day and the desire to dress is pretty much ignorable, 2 -3weeks with no PM and I'm climbing the walls trying to suppress the need.
