Hi every one
I am a male in mid 40ies.I regret using Saw palmetto.
I used Saw Palmetto about four years ago for my hair loss for few months (4-5). Got side effects: extreme fatigue, appetite loss, low libido, erectile dysfunction, Vision problem and so on. I stopped SP thinking side effects will go away but after stopping sides got severe and severe until I lost my job and career ruined. Up Until now I have not recovered. My side effects are more severe now
1-Very weak and tired. Get up in the morning like have been run over by an eighteen wheeler.
2-Joint pain, Muscle pain, thin skin.
3-Cold body. My hands and feet always very cold like ice
4-Poor sleep. get up after 2-3 hours sleep
5-Irregular heart beet, fast heart beet
6-No appetite. I now eat almost 1/4 of what I used to eat before.
7-Naseau all the time.
8-Double vision.
9-100% impotent. I used to think alot about sex before but now it looks like chore for me.
10-Shrunken testicles and penis. My penis and testilces have permnenetly shrunken. I have not done serm check but I think I don't have any sperms.
11-Pot belly, thin arms and legs.
12- Body hair loss. I used to be a hairy guy but now my legs, arms are without hair like I have shaved them. My chest has very fine and thin hair. Hair on my head is now look wiered. I had stright hair now wavey and very weak.
My list still not complete but I think this is enough.

SP, you've just described being estrogen dominant and overloaded with the enzyme aromatase.....

I agree with lotus. I am not a doctor but you may want to get yourself some progesterone cream and some testosterone increasing/mimicking herbs/glandulars : horny goat weed, tribulus terrestris, bulbine natalensis or bovine orchid.

good luck & hope your health starts improving.
See a doctor and get tested. It sounds more like you are lacking something. Maybe your testosterone was already plummeting and sp only made you notice it more from the reduced dht. dht = "bad" testosterone, but still testosterone.

Eating lots of oysters and bran may be helpful. Nutrition should come before herbs on any major problem. Hormonal precursors like DHEA, pregnenalone or progesterone may be nice too. Then after that you may add on 1,000+ mg 100:1 tongkat ali extract, 3,000-10,000 mg maca or less if an extract, and 500 mg vitex.
Just how much SP were you taking???

Huh
Have you been to the doctor?

You need to have a hormone panel done. If you are low-t do as much research as you can before starting any treatment.

Natural ways to boost testosterone:

Get enough sleep. Exercise. Get sunshine. Watch your stress. Eat a healthy diet.

Alcohol reduces testosterone. Limit sugar.
I have seen a lot of drs and Endos but they are of no help. Yes my T is very low out of range low. The first time when discovered I had no idea what testosterone is. My dr put me on T cream which initially made me feel better but then I got worse and worse. I got a lot of water in my legs and chest to the point where was not able to walk. Also cream made me very moody. I had to stop it.After stopping I realized I worse than before.
I took 360 mg liquid saw palmetto.
No I had no issues before saw palmetto. I was kind of alpha male, very muscular. Saw palmeto is the only thing which I took for my hairloss.
Have you been to a clinic that specializes in testosterone treatments?

I have read that you might have to go to 5 or 6 different docs before finding the right one for you. I've also read that finding one that says they specialize in anti-aging or similar therapies would know what they are doing more so than one who does not.

I'm sorry you have experienced this!

SP, the overdosing of men suffering from Low T by throwing more T at them happens at an alarming rate, when the answer should have been to check their free T levels instead of total T, which isn't the problem (it's less bioactive).

Now a perfect storm is created to dump a cascade of androgens straight to E receptors. And alcohol is a major aromatase booster.

Background: During testosterone (T) therapy, T is partly converted to 17{beta}-estradiol (E2) and 5{alpha}-dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Effects of age, testosterone dose, and body composition on total and free E2 and DHT levels are unknown.

Objective: We evaluated age and dose-related differences in E2 and DHT levels in response to graded doses of testosterone enanthate in young and older men.

Methods: Fifty-one young (aged 19-35 yr) and 52 older (aged 59-75 yr) men completed treatment with monthly injections of a GnRH agonist plus randomly assigned weekly doses of testosterone enanthate (25, 50, 125, 300, or 600 mg) for 5 months.

Results: During testosterone administration, total and free E2 levels increased dose-dependently (dose effect, P < 0.001) in both young and older men. Total and free E2 levels and E2:T ratios during T administration were higher in older than young men, but age-related differences in free E2 and free E2:T ratios were not significant after adjusting for testosterone levels, percentage fat mass, and SHBG. DHT levels and DHT:T ratios were dose-related but did not differ between young and older men. Mechanistic modeling of free hormone data revealed that the conversions of T to E2 and DHT were both consistent with saturable Michaelis-Menten kinetics. The in vivo Km values were estimated to be 1.83 nM for aromatase and 3.35 nM for 5{alpha}-reductase, independent of age. The Vmax parameter for E2 was 40% higher in older men than younger men, but Vmax for DHT was not significantly different between age groups.

Conclusions: During im testosterone administration, E2 and DHT levels exhibit saturable increases with dose. The rate of whole body aromatization is higher in older men, partly related to their higher percentage fat mass, SHBG, and testosterone levels.
