I managed to accidentally out myself today. I should explain.

For many years I've had a bit of a strange hobby. I love walking in and photographing extreme weather. Storms, heavy rain, high winds, snow and ice. You get the idea. Well today's weather predicted heavy rain. So I got my wet weather gear on and went for a walk. Turned out to be over an inch of rain and localised flooding.

I had a great walk and enjoyed myself but I realised that I had forgotten to put on lining socks and my poor feet were suffering because of it.
GPS on my phone says I did just over 17 miles. Not a huge distance for me, but more than enough to cause damage and I knew I had. So on the walk home I stopped at the local Health Centre to get patched up.

After a 30 minute wait I was taken through to the treatment room. Boots off with no problem but it was obvious I had bleed through my socks.
The nurse suggested soaking my feet to get socks off without causing more damage and it worked with gentle pulling.

It was as the first sock came off that nurse says "Ooooh that's a nice colour". Like a complete muppet I had not even thought about the fact I had painted nails. Did not even enter my head! She was lovely about it though, completely un-phased, she just kept chatting away.

Local news called it localised flooding. I'd call it some big puddles! lol

Health centre is only 3/4 mile from home. I knew I'd hurt myself but it was not painful. Sore and uncomfortable but not serious pain. Not so bad I needed a taxi and the bus service sucks.

I walked home from a gig very late one night, a good 90 minute walk, I still have no idea how many miles, maybe 5 to 8. By the time I got a block from home it was at least 5:00 a.m. and the sun was just coming up. I was wearing a black mini skirt and either white or tan tights. I JUST steppe over the railing on the bypass ramp about 200 feet from my back yard, putting a hole in my knee AND my tights at the time, when this woman that lives across the street from me walks by with her dog!! (I spent a number of years in school with her step-daughter.) She took one look at me and I thought, "Oops!! Caught!!", and she said, slightly snippy, "What do you call THAT?" I said, "A skirt!", and continued walking!
I've heard healthcare workers have seen all kinds of things, so perhaps that's why she wasn't shocked by your pink toenails. Or maybe she just really liked that shade of pink. Tongue

I hope your feet are feeling better.

OMG you are an inspiration walking home in a mini skirt. I hope one day to have your confidence. One day! Wink

Love the way you dealt with your neighbour.

I had a similar thing happen at a doctors office months ago. A dermatologist. Had an elbow problem. Was totally sTonguehocked when they asked me to strip to check my skin for problems while I was there. But, wtf, I stripped and sat there in a string bikini and my breasts fully displayed...lol. Doctor never missed a beat, but the assistant had to pick her jaw up off the ground when she saw my chest...lol.

Yeah I guess they see all sorts. lol. From her reaction and chatting she was a incredible actress or was interested.

I still can't work out how it just simply did not enter my mind until it was too late.

Thank you they are much better. I have a big blister on each big/little toe and taken several layers of skin off each heal. They look better today compared to yesterday.
