If you're unsure talk to your doctor, but here's some info regarding phytoestrogens and PM:,

If breast enlargement pills do have estrogen-like effects in the body, there are some safety concerns. Estrogen given on its own stimulates the growth of tissue in the uterus and is believed to promote uterine cancer, which is why birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy normally contain progesterone to counter estrogen's effects on the uterus. We don't know if natural breast enhancement pills stimulate the growth of uterine tissue.

Estrogens are well known to increase breast cancer risk in some women
http://www.cancer.org/cancer/breastcance...sk-factors

Phytoestrogens, which are widely distributed in plants, are structurally similar to mammalian estrogens and can thus bind weakly to estrogen receptors (1). The 3 major classes of phytoestrogens are isoflavones, which are concentrated in soybeans and soy products but are also found in other legumes; lignans, which are distributed in seeds, whole grains, berries, fruit, vegetables, and nuts; and coumestans, which are found in broccoli and sprouts.

Estrogen is increasingly recognized as a cause of breast cancer. Both elevated concentrations of endogenous estrogen and hormonal therapy with estrogen for menopause are associated with an increased risk of breast cancer (3). However, the role of phytoestrogens is ambiguous.

PHYTOESTROGEN EFFECTS ON BREAST CANCER
Overall, phytoestrogens have a protective effect against breast cancer, though research has shown that in some cases they may induce tumor development. A study in the "Journal of Clinical Oncology" in February 2007 showed phytoestrogens to behave like estrogen when natural estrogen levels are low and unlike estrogen when levels are high. Premenopause, phytoestrogens protect against breast cancer when estrogen levels are high, but promote the growth of cancer cells post-menopause when estrogen levels are low. This study also showed that higher levels of the isoflavone genistein slows the development of tumor cells, protecting against breast cancer.

Pm extract-It has been reported that Pueraria mirifica contains estrogenic substance miroestrol, which can be found in the dry rhizome of Pueraria mirifica about 0.002-0.003%. This substance has been proven 2 times more effective than human estrogen.

A series of studies involving breast cell lines and the activity of Pueraria mirifica in vitro have been performed by the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Phramongkutklao College of Medicine, Bangkok, Thailand. These studies have shown that Pueraria mirifica root extract (Smith Naturals Co Ltd., Bangkok) has potent anti-estrogenic properties against aggressive cell cancer lines in vitro, especially the proliferative estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer lines (T47-D, MCF-7, and ZR-75-1) obtained from the MD Anderson Cancer Institute (Texas) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Pueraria mirifica promotes fibroblasts in normal breast cells and inhibits estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells. LD50 test
On the LD50 test (which measures the dosage that would kill laboratory animals after 14 days, expressed in weight of material per kilogram of body weight), simple water scores a 16. Relative to this, dried PM root scores a more toxic 7-but when the root is administered in the form of a standardized extract, the score raises to 40, causing no animal deaths at all.

Yes, I heard ya!, sorry it took so long! Wink

References? Especially on the LD50. Last time I looked, studies failed to establish an LD50 for PM and that was using dried, powdered root. Also, I was under the impression that there was no such thing as a 'standardized extract' for PM. So, love to get a link to that one.

Thanks.

Expounding some more, they blame cancer on anything these days, so pretty much just being alive puts you at risk of getting cancer.

As for my first one, the doctors said the type was pretty rare, and usually attributed to a birth defect or something that happened while I was still a developing fetus. Whatever it was was merely a ticking time bomb that finally decided to go off when it did.

As for the thyroid, I know globally thyroid cancer is on the rise. Many blame much of it on diet, which is why I made some drastic changes in recent months. Ironically my bosses wife just had hers removed too due to cancer, so perhaps it's something in the air or water where I live Wink

I guess if I never had a previous cancer I would probably not bat an eye and have the bottle open already. However, I'd really like to not have cancer a third time. BUT if it is merely the estrogen hormone imbalance that induces any risk, than I have already started taking that risk.

Regardless of this though I would have to ensure that if I did take the PM it does not mess with my T4 levels, as that would be bad. I know I posted a thread on this topic early on with little response, and that could be because many here don't have this issue...

Guess I'll keep the dream alive for now! Big Grin

We're all born with cancer, it's just that certain things make it dangerous. But, it IS just a fungus and easily cured. There are nearly 400 known natural cures.
Take care!!
From WebMD:

Hormone-sensitive condition such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids: Kudzu might act like estrogen. If you have any condition that might be made worse by exposure to estrogen, don’t use kudzu.

http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplement...Name=KUDZU

So looks like maybe, just maybe my first thoughts were right in regards to this being more of a concern with genetic girls.

Also, only one thread found on the Ainterol forum regarding thyroid interaction.

http://www.ainterolherbs.com/forums/Thre...he-Thyroid

and really not much mention of interaction specifically on Levothyroxine other than the possibility of increased side effects when taking it with any of the listed items

Yes MM, I've found that out after researching why I got it for the second time. My research all leads to diet and lifestyle, of which I have made much changes as a countermeasure. Wish I would've found out though before opting right away for surgery, since now I'm dependent on big pharma for life. Sad

Yeah, that sucks!! I wish more people would pay attention to what's available rather just going by what the run of the mill Dr. tells you. My boss got cancer in his throat a few years ago and I gave him a lot of info on cures and he STILL opted for chemo!! A year later, the cancer came back!! AGAIN, he went the way of chemo!! I haven't seen him or heard from him in two years, so I'm not sure how he's doing anymore. In the meantime, mom had cancer 3 years ago and didn't do anything about it until Sept. when I started giving her a cure and, last week, her doctor called to say the cancer is GONE!! She refused chemo and radiation!!
As for the advice from Ainterol, I'm inclined to believe that it comes from their lawyers rather than actual research or experience with PM itself, i.e. since it is known that certain cancers may be promoted by estrogen, and even though you believe that PM is protective, you should play it safe and cover your backside. But I can quite understand your caution, Scotti.

Yeah, my wife was a skeptic too, but her own research has her on my side now in regards to what could have been and our dietary changes. She did state though even if we knew beforehand she would have insisted on surgery and conventional treatment.

Besides that, most people are so convinced that only a doctor can treat or kill what ails them that they never even attempt anything holistic. Great to hear all is well with your mom. Hopefully whatever changes she made she'll keep doing to prevent future instances.
