Thanks, Kari, for linking to this good article. Nothing too surprising for those of us who have TG/TS natures ourselves, but it does show how much easier it is to transition with the love and support of one's wife.

Interestingly, the article says there are 700,000 transgender people in the United States. The statistic isn't footnoted but I rarely ever see numbers mentioned.

How did they come up with this number? I think it would be hard to come up with a number considering how many may be in the closest and thereby lie about their gender identity, and how ambiguous a term like transgender can be. It reminds me of the difficulties of trying to classify and count how many bio-males crossdress.

Clara,

I like your new avatar. Smile (I suppose eventually I should join the club of using a picture of myself as my avatar? Tongue)

I think first I would have to get a wig and ask Sarah to give me some lessons on how to apply makeup. Big Grin

I think its a great idea, Flame! Join the club!
Thank you for the article Kari, reading it made me very emotional, maybe because my TG life is a little on the low side right now. But it does go to show with a strong mind and clear determination every one of us could follow our dreams and make them reality. What gets in the way is our sense of duty and fairness, there are times when I wish I had a more selfish attitude. Blush

Love to you all

Thanks, Flame. As to your avatar....

Only if you feel comfortable doing so. There is an increased risk to outing yourself. I've come to accept the fact that I am who I am and everyone who gives a damn about me will eventually come to know the complete me, anyway.

Having raised that obvious warning, it certainly would be nice to have a face to go with the personality we all know and love. Go for it, Flame.

How masculine or feminine is your first or middle name? Has anyone been given a feminine first or middle name because their parents were hoping or expecting a girl? Big Grin

While my given first name is typically assigned to males, there is a female co-worker who's middle name is the same as my first name. Smile

My dad used to tell me he named me after Dale Evans, Roy Rogers' wife. Recently, mom told me there was some other cowboy movie star named Dale that I was named after. I forget his name. Dad used to also tell me that if I was a girl they would've named me, Dalita. How coincidental is it that he kept making female references about me when I was little, when I actually wished I WAS female nearly all my life??
