This is worth mentioning again,

Lemons inhibit CYP3A4, and @ 60%?.......,,,,,,,,its pro breast growth.

Application to drug-food interactions of living cells as in vitro model expressing cytochrome P450 activity: enzyme inhibition by lemon juice.

Abstract
Classical inhibitors of human cytochrome P450 3A4 activity, such as ketoconazole and quercetin, are tested to prove the efficiency of a new metabolisation model using living entire cells. Grapefruit juice is a well-known potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 3A4 activity. With regard to the clinical relevance of grapefruit juice-drug interactions, an investigation of other common juices is undertaken with this in vitro model. The CYP3A4 activity is measured by the formation of the 6beta-hydroxytestosterone, which is quantified by an isocratic high performance liquid chromatography. It is demonstrated for the first time that lemon juice significantly inhibits by 60+/-3% the CYP3A4-mediated oxidation. Grapefruit juice inhibits this activity by 82+/-4%. The mechanism of lemon juice inhibition is competitive, whereas it is mixed for grapefruit juice. These results suggest that our in vitro model combined with our analytical method is applicable for the investigation of the inhibition of CYP3A4 not only by chemical inhibitors but also by natural food products.

Whole Lemons are fairly inexpensive, in drinks or on food.....lemons boost the NBE/Hrt blood levels by the CYP3A4 enzyme pathway.......meaning most the drugs in your medicine cabinet. Rolleyes

Here's something that everyone should understand, toxicity. It's understood women metabolize quicker:

Quote:Clinical studies indicate that women metabolise drugs which are substrates of CYP3A4 more quickly than men (20–30% increase)4. Analysis has shown around two fold higher levels of CYP3A4 protein in female compared to male tissue samples3,4. http://www.medsafe.govt.nz/profs/PUArtic...4503A4.htm

So, in other words we can't simply suggest someone else should take x amount of an herb/med without some research done by the individual. The swing in metabolism could be as much as 50% in individuals. As I said before, if the PM is legit, females should only take 100 to 250 mg......and only in the first half. What PM does in the brain (especially in females) is less understood. Meaning, how PM effects the HPA (hypothalamus pituitary axis) is tricky business, and especially at growth hormones/ lutenizing & follicle stimulating hormones, cause everyone metabolizes different.

So my cup 1/2 a lemon tea a day (which I've gotten away from) should be something I get back to.

This is an old time remedy for liver cleansing......and I started it when I felt the reishi was maybe causing me liver problems, over a year ago. Think I'll do one of those and two green teas a day. That's about all the tea I can take .lol

Btw, myer lemons are what to buy.....delicious.

On to the toxicity thing.....how do you really know if you're reaching a "bad" level of pM? I do at least 1000 mg a day and usually 2000 mg.

Originally because I was heavier than most at over 240 when I started aug 2014.. Now i'm 206 (as of this morning)....should I cut it down to 1500 mg? or less?

Thanks Lotus....and you make me *blush*

Good question, short of a toxicology test I'd look for side effects, e.g. lower extremity pain, edema, increase in fatigue, vascular and vision changes, etc. I think if you try for 4000 to 5000 mg range you'd be putting health at risk. 1500mg should be ok for guys, women only need 100 to 250 mg. The thing about PM is the different isoflavonoids (and there are several iso's in PM) effect on certain enzymes. Men and women are definitely effected differently.

Wow, that IS impressive elaine, congrats. Big Grin 1500 mg (my opinion) Blush....entirely up to you though. Wink
But doesn't toxicity depend on other factors, for example: an individual's weight, metabolism, health issues, and other endogenous/exogenous factors?

That is, because effects of any dose of PM will differ for each person, wouldn't it naturally follow that toxicity would be different too?

Just wondering Big Grin

That's a good point Eloise (thanks). Metabolism is a finicky feline lol huh?. Rolleyes Up/down regulation comes to mind. Maybe why some see immediate results, and or vice-versa.

Happy gonads = happy boob growth...because?! we need gonads to produce T which can then be converted to E? Am I missing something here?

Actually, it's an anagram for happy mitochondria = happy gonads. In other words, improper cell function is detrimental (for a host of others issues too) in achieving breast growth, not to mention overall health. A cheesy example would be operating a vehicle without oil........what happens then?, the engine seizes (aka-unhappy gonads).

ahh, got it. that makes sense. but how could we consider gonads 'healthy' when we are trying to limit their functions? can they still be 'healthy' when being prevented from doing what they are biologically supposed to do?
