I was thinking the other day about all the recent advances in medical technology to prolong life through the replacement of defective or worn out body parts. The range of possibility is staggering.

I wonder how long before a whole-body transplant will be possible. One could have his brain transplanted into a brand new body to extend life another four or five generations.

Then, it occurred to me that I might have the option to pick the body I've always dreamed of having. You know, clone a body from someone's DNA (for a fee, of course) and insert Clara Kay's brain. Yeah, it's stupid, but this is the kind of stuff we crossdreamers come up with LOL.

So, if that were possible, whose body, male or female, would you pick to live out the next 30 years of your life as? (I figure another trade-in at 30 or 35 years to keep with current fashion).

My choice would be Mary-Louise Parker. She played Nancy Botwin in the Showtime series 'Weeds'. OMG would I love to have that look! Tongue

Shades of Star Trek when someone stole Mr Stocks brain! lol
[attachment=4913]ClaraKay,

You surprise me, such imagination, how refreshing!. I've always wanted go go back in time, say to the turn of the century.

But, the actress Ava Gardner comes too mind, absolutely stunning!

Good choice, Lotus, she IS stunning. Do you think any of her DNA is left around somewhere? Wink
There's a possibility that a successful head transplant can be made with modern tech. The only think that keeps it from happening is the moral/financial barrier that hinders many other medical advances. I read a paper a while back about reconnecting spinal nerves using polyethylene glycol, a common OTC laxative.

It's said that a brain transplant without the rest of the head wouldn't be possible for a long while. It may be weird to have a mismatched head on a body, but I guess patients willing to swap bodies could take cosmetic surgery.

As for the body I'd take, I think I'd want it custom-made.

That would take some cosmetic surgery miracle to transform my ugly mug into anything that looked like Miss Parker's. Sad

I think I might take that of some little girl so I can get to experience what it's like to grow up as a girl: expect my first period, actually use tampons, watch my tits start to grow and see them become huge right under my nose, eventually get pregnant and have a few kids.
If I HAD to pick a grown-up's body (chances are my brain would be too big to fit into a little girl's head), either Jordana Brewster or the girl that "Chuck" meets on the plane in the episode of "Chuck" where he has to fly to Paris. She's SO gorgeous, but so very down to earth.
Now, I've been thinking along the same lines for well over 30 years now!! There was a movie called, "Brainstorm", in which one person could experience everything another person felt as long as both of us were wearing the Brainstorm head-piece; I'd eat peanut butter and you'd taste it. AND, it could be recorded so you could experience the exact same thing again and again any time you wanted! They never explored this in the movie, but a guy could experience what it was like to be a girl with this device! She has a period, he gets to feel what it's like, she has big bouncy tits, he gets to feel what THAT'S like! She has sex, he could experience what that feels like. Just imagine, you could have sex with a girl, both of you wearing the device, and you could feel what it's like to have your own dick inside of her (you)! And she could feel what it's like to put your (her) dick into her (you).
There was also an episode of The Avengers where some Dr. invents a mind transference machine and these two criminals exchange bodies with Steed and Emma, but they never go so far as to exchange Steed's brain with Emma's!
Now, here's a ray of hope for you, they say that we are actually about 1000 years more technologically advanced than the common man thinks we are and we gain another 100 years for every year that goes by, AND, no matter WHAT you see in movies or t.v. shows, we either already CAN do that, are going in that direction right now, or have already been there/done that and didn't think it was worth continuing!!
I can understand the idea of wanting a female body. Since I was 4 or 5, I can remember wishing at times that I could be a girl. I'm not sure I want to be permanently female, just have the option of switching back and forth as I so desire. There are various females whose body I would be happy with if I could somehow move my brain or my consciousness to her body.

[political rant]
As for the idea of doing this periodically in an effort to live indefinitely, I cannot understand why anyone would want to spend one more minute than absolutely necessary living in this hell that humankind has created. In the nearly 50 years I have been on this planet, I have watched things continue to worsen. Life hasn't been much fun since the Reagan Error when corporate greed was allowed to run rampant, supply-side economics forced most families to throw their kids in daycare so that both parents could work in an effort to provide the same kind of lifestyle that one working parent was previously able to provide, and robber-baron bankers figured out ways to get the rest of us to bankroll the casino on Wall Street through the use of IRAs and 401(k) plans while corporations got rid of pension plans. The conservatives attempt to brainwash us into giving tax breaks to the rich because they "create jobs" like chauffeur, maid, butler, and gardener. The liberals try to make us feel guilty through politically-correct speech. Both sides find hot-button issues and attempt to distract us with red herrings of illegal immigration, manufactured budget crises, same-sex marriage, right to life/freedom of choice, fear of the loss of gun rights, wars on terror/drugs/cancer, etc., while they slowly take away our rights and our freedoms, and most people just keep staring into their cell phones, playing with their game consoles, and massaging their tablet devices while grabbing up the latest HDTV every couple of years. I feel as if I'm the only one who sees how far we've fallen and that nobody else cares. In the USA, it used to be a good thing when we had government gridlock because it meant nothing good or bad happened, and more often than not, when something was done, it wasn't good, but in recent times our legislative branch has found ways to make bad things happen because of inaction--a new low. Unfortunately, even if every incumbent were replaced en mass, nothing would change but the names and faces.
[/political rant]

My apologies for the above rant, but I felt it was somewhat necessary to explain why I can't wait for my time to be up.
Hello CK.

I see some issues with such an idea.

The first is the brain is far from being an immortal organ. Diseases like dementia demonstrates how susceptible the brain is to being damaged or worse. Brain injuries can also easily wreak havoc on the functionality of the brain.

The second is the brain is the most complex organ in the body. Arguably, it's the most complex known object in the universe. Unlike other organs like lungs, kidneys, hearts, etc., scientists has made no major progress with replicating partial or complete functions of the brain as far as I'm aware of. How would surgeons get comprehensive practice performing such an arduous and delicate operation? Even if the surgery was deemed a success, there's no telling what symptoms or problems may occur post-op. Your new body may reject your brain, you may have difficulty using your senses, or you may have to relearn how to walk or speak. Who knows whether you may be more susceptible to developing a mental illness or something as a result of the transplant? Getting a new body may be fun at first, but the experience may become agonizing when you're suffering from severe depression, psychosis or paranoia.

Complexities aside, what if your brain doesn't fit in the head of a typical female body? Huh It's not like your brain can be simply trimmed down to size. Perhaps a simpler alternative would be to transplant the brain to a feminine android body? It wouldn't be the same as a real human body, but maybe a lot of the difficulties associated with such a transplant could be negated with an android body.

On a lighter note, I think NBE can be used to illustrate my point. Our brains have to adjust to having growing breasts on our chests. This period of novelty and adjustment is just for one part of our bodies. Now imagine the same going for the entire body.

But, Flame, you didn't answer the question. Huh

I like your android idea though. Did you see the movie AI? Remember Gigolo Joe? He didn't have a human brain, but maybe that will come out in the next release. I would opt for the female version of Jude Law, though. Big Grin

Or, maybe I could get around all the problems you listed by having my brain replicated in a complex quantum neural net, capturing my personality, sense of who I am, past experiences, etc.

Oh, except I'd like to erase certain bothersome memories. Missed Miss, maybe they could program your cyber brain with the memories of growing up as a girl. That would be cool, too.

Yeah, it's a crazy idea, but what does reality have to do with it?
