A negative mind never attracts happiness or material success, but it will attract their opposites. Napoleon Hill

You may trick yourself into believing that you are only playing devil’s advocate or searching for weaknesses in apparently good ideas, but in the end negative thinking always produces negative results. Just as your mind will work tirelessly to translate your positive thoughts into their physical equivalent, it will work equally hard to create negative results when all of your thoughts are negative. My contention is that the majority of folks are unable to satisfactorily express themselves, thus paint with broad strokes in whatever the color they think is appropriate. The details are left for others to interpret through nuance; unfortunately, this can be entirely inadequate. The result is frustration and/or abandonment of a thought. Having the facility to fully express ideas is a gift that few folks possess.

Service which is rendered without joy helps neither the servant nor the served. But all other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy. -- Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi

Know your own mind, and you will be as wise as the sages. Napoleon Hill

When you take charge of your mind, you take charge of your life. When you understand your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and desires, you can direct them to any end you choose. Wisdom comes from taking the time to study yourself, to know why you are the person you are. Taking charge of your mind is a thoughtful, reflective, solitary process. Only you can come to understand the complex inner workings of your own mind, and you must be willing to spend the time and effort that gaining such insight requires.

"No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you are progressing, you're still way ahead of everyone who isn't trying."
The Great Miracle of Life
by Napoleon Hill

The stars and planets, and the nebulous matter from which these were formed, are related to one another by nature's habits of fixation, operating through the Law of Cosmic Habitforce. Day and night, the seasons of the year, the law of balance, and every living thing except man, are bound by inexorable habits which make their movements and actions accurately predictable over long periods of time and far in advance of the happenings.

Man alone has been given the privilege of fixing his own earthly destiny, with the right to make it pleasant or unpleasant, successful, or unsuccessful, happy or unhappy, rich or poor, and his achievements are always unpredictable because his potential power is unlimited.

If man had but two more privileges than he now possesses he would be on an equal footing with the Creator; namely (1) the privilege of coming into the world at birth, of his own choice; and (2) the privilege of remaining among the living as long as he desires. Man has potential control over almost everything else, but alas, he rarely discovers the powers available to him or makes any attempt to use these powers for his own uplift, or to make this a better world.

For the most part, man settles down in a sort of tug-of-war struggle with forces which become unfriendly toward him because he does not understand them--forces such as the great miracles of life--and he gladly settles with life for a place to sleep, a little food to fill his belly and enough clothes to hide his nakedness.

POM, Your citations are inspirations to us all. Perhaps some of us search for relevance in these word and in our lives while others dismiss them as distractions. My humble concept is that the mind of man instills direction to the universal chaos. Inexorably, chaos persists as waves and we ride those waves to give purpose and reward to our lives. Thus we are different, thus we are the same. L^te
