Ok, so I'm a pretty clean person, and rarely do i have any skin problems. The last few weeks i've noticed a purply rash below my belly button. It doesn't itch unless I scratch it.

Could this be from pm? or SP?

Don't tell me to go to the doctor, because I hate them, and even if I didn't, I live in the US and have no insurance.

Anyone else have something like this happen on PM/SP...if not I'm guessing it's an unrelated external issue.

Do you wear anything between your skin and your jeans waistband?

Yeah, very loose fitting boxers....and they usually ride up higher than the belt buckle.

Still an interesting theory. The rash is lower than the waistline of my pants are though.
Curious, but is it a rash that kinda resembles a spot of dry skin?

Kind of, but I dropped SP lately, so I'd think the skin would get oilier. Then again it has cleared up a bit so maybe it takes awhile to see the effect of dropping it idk.

No, the PM has a much greater anti-androgenic effect than SP. I used to produce so much oil on my face and scalp that I used to have to wash my face about four times a day, and my hair (what there is of it)got slick to my scalp by the end of it. 7 months in and I now only wash my face and forehead on rising and going to bed and only out of habit - and I need conditioner for my hair, it gets so dry.

The oilyness is caused by the DHT, I think, and the PM defeats it. That's why, with some minoxidil, I'm having some success in growing head hair back.

Regarding your rash, I know you don't have medical insurance, but I still think it would be worth the cost of a consultation to put your mind at ease. I used to live in CT and I seem to remember that a consultation wasn't too expensive.

Failing that, what about OTC steroid cream?

I think I have the same thing going on. I have 3 or 4 spots of dry skin on my legs that only itch if I try to scratch them. The worst one is a spot on the back of one calf the size of a quarter. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said to use some hand lotion - unscented, because scented lotion apparently dries the skin even more(?). Been using Aveeno on it for about a week now and while still quite present, it does seem to be getting better.

Thanks for the responses.

It seems to have cleared up on its own. I'm not sure what it was, allergic reaction, heat rash, dry skin...could even be something I ate, who knows.

Shit happens, it could definitely be worse lol

And to bryony...I thought the reason younger people were taking SP was because the PM didn't have enough of an anti-androgenic effect by itself to keep skin clear and breakouts and body hair in check At older ages, say past 40, it doesn't seem there's enough testosterone to make enough DHT to require SP along with the PM. At least that's my understanding from what I've read.

I could be mistaken on that, but I certainly needed SP at first...actually I may take it for a couple more months, as I have been getting odd pimples on my chest(never happened before PM), and still some hair growth around the nipples.

But hey, everyone is different I suppose.
