Hair removal Topical Cyperus Rotundus oil

#11

I've been looking at a couple of suppliers descriptions and to the best of my understanding the usage scenario is to apply it directly after removing hair by epilation such as waxing, epilator or threading etc but perhaps not by depilation i.e. shaving or creams?

The clearest instructions I could see state:

"It is used after the hair removal, remove hair from the body in any way you prefer. Apply oil to the removed hair area leave it on the area overnight, and repeat the process for the following three days, after that use it after every hair removal you will notice that the hair growth has decreased significantly."

I'm still working on it, about the 1 month mark, not seen any real difference yet. I've yet to establish if this is even the correct product...

In the UK it's actually really difficult to source anything that isn't massively expensive (looking at around £100 for something like 30ml bottle)

What I found from Here is a tincture (alcohol solution) rather than an oil, but it is a lot more price friendly and it doesn't require shipping charges that cost more than the product!

I'm applying it on breast area, underarms and back of hand to see if it actually works and is therefore viable.

I shave the chest/underarms 2-3 times a week and apply the tincture via atomiser first thing in the morning and last thing at night, I just spray it on, rub it in and leave it.
All the materials I've read on people using Cyperus Rotundus indicate it takes a good two months+ to see real results so I'll persevere for another month and see if it's done its thing or not.

In my opinion this kind of treatments would likely work best when the hair is fully removed and thereafter the topical stuff is applied.
"Fully removed" means mechanical epilation, waxing, sugaring, tweezers - use any method which removes the hair all way from the follicle.
That kind of procedure has been the main method in all kinds of "traditional" treatments I have read about.

You may be right, I have however, heard of people who have used hair removal cream or shaved and had results too though.

OK well it's almost 2 months now.

Results are... ambiguous really.

I'm going to give it one more month (making it 3) before delivering final verdict. Initial observations appear to show underarm hair to be finer and less, but it's hard to be sure yet.

I'm still doing the 'apply it twice a day method' after soaking the areas with hot water to open up the pores.
I'm shaving the areas (underarm & neck/chest) as my method of hair removal every 2 or 3 days so the areas are being kept pretty hair free.

I'll report again in another month Smile

Well I've been using it for near on 3 months and.

Probably best you don't bother, it hasn't really done anything.

BUT

It is possible that by epilating or somehow otherwise exposing the follicle it might do something, I don't know. I just shaved every few days and then applied.
One thing it was good for (probably due to the alcohol) was it stopped any real rash or spots/razer rash from showing, so there's that I suppose. I'll continue using my last bottle until its gone, but I likely won't be getting any more.

The search continues.

I have seen some other topical "hair inhibitors" before, and to my knowledge they require epilation or waxing, which removes the hair from follicles. It is unsure how well they work anyway.... It seems that the task is very difficult for any chemical which doesn't outright poison people.

I started epilating in January and have also applied the oil in some of those areas directly after the hair removal for part of that time as well.

I can't really tell the difference between areas I've applied the oil and not. Overall hair regrowth has noticeably weakened during that time but I think it is more as a result of the repeated epilation as anything else.

I do note the wiki entry for Hair Removal mentions (under the Drugs subheading) certain enzymes can inhibit hair regrowth as long as they are used continually. I guess it's possible the active ingredient in Cyperus Rotundus might be one such enzyme.

I doubt I'll really know if the CR is having any effect unless I stop epilating and see if there is any change in hair regrowth patterns. While it's not too bad keeping the maintenance thing going for the present, I doubt I'd restart if I let it all grow out again.
