I read a really interesting article here: https://www.metaboliceffect.com/emale-ef...-patterns/
and it mentions about excersize, now for the last 2 years of my HRT I`v deliberately not done Any sort of excersize at all and have lost Tons of muscle mass as a result, the effects have been great and I`m really pleased it has worked, there`s no longer any sort of muscle definition, just smooth curves, my shoulder width has has decreased too, and my arms are smaller than some natal womens (16 cms around my wrists for example), coupled with fat redistribution the effect is fantastic, I have a small frame anyway so it works well for me.

so what`s my problem???

Well... as you can imagine, 2 years of deleiberately doing no excersize has taken it`s toll on strength, my 12 year old daughter can beat me in an arm wrestle! I would struggel with my 4 year old son! LOL and I can`t do things that a woman my size should be able to! AND.... I would like to work on my figure and hopefully lose a little (ok a LOT!) around my middle, but... that`s going to involve excersize, in particular; Weights and possibly HIIT training.

so How am I supoosed to do this without gaining all those muscles back again and ruining all that work I`v done?

I`m afraid that if I start doing something like that which is recommended, that i`m going to go right back to looking like I did before, and I`d rather die than let that happen!
I used to put muscle on REALY REALY easily before, and would last for ages without me having to do anything to maintain it, I can`t risk going back, it`s taken me ages to get to where I`m no longer dysphoric about my shape (or at least it`s managable now), would Dancing help me at all? I love to dance (even though I`m no good at it), could I do that instead perhaps?

any help or advice would be lovely, Thanks! xx
Yes
Mental force can increase strength dramatically
But

Do muscle training max reps

Few repetitions of very high loading can teach muscles to kick in when needed ie in bursts without building bulk

Really light weights (dumbbells) are a good, inexpensive option. A couple of 5 pounders would likely do the trick.

Another option is use of a pool (by a membership somewhere if there isn't one in the backyard).

Even if it's not for swimming, plenty of moving around in the water helps get the whole body in action and helps tone and strengthen without adding bulk.
I love the swimming pool idea, but sadly that`s a bit out of the question whilst i`m still Pre-Op. if I do get some of these weight thingies, then what do I do with them? and are you 100% sure that I won`t get muscle definition or other masculine like traits?

Just used mine. Smile

Raise them over my head.
Do sort of a slow punching motion out away from my chest.
Curls.
Other assorted motions.

The greater the concern regarding increased definition, the lighter the weights.

Perhaps stop by a Target or somewhere that has the different sizes to try out. Many places like TJ Max & Marshalls sometimes have some (for women and on the lighter side, and usually in bright colors).

Another option is fast walking with light wrist wrap hand weights geared for that activity. The latter is often even easier to find than dumbbells.
My recommendation (if it counts) , would be strength-training geared for women only. That way, you can keep any strength you needed, but not end up like "arnie "...  Tongue
Hi Katie,
If your testosterone is at female levels then you won’t have to worry too much about bulking up.  It is very difficult for a trained female athlete in her prime to acquire much bulk without taking additives and doing serious training.   Testosterone - or its equivalent - is important to bulking up for most people.

Look at Olympic class female sprinters, skiers, sprint/pursuit cyclists, and speed skaters for example.  You would expect them to have very large thighs, however they - although bigger than your sedate female’s - thighs do not approach the size of men’s thighs who pursue the same activity.

Will you gain some muscle size if you train with weights? - more than likely.   Will you get bulky? - highly unlikely to no.

maybe I should wait a little bit longer then, if i`m going to put on some muscle and I`v only just fairly recently lost enough to be ok with myself, perhaps I should go a little further and then when I do start I can stop when I get to the size I am now?

oh hell, i don`t know, it`s all so damn confusing Sad
