HRT and the EDGE

Now its reported in many forums , even the oh my gosh Transsexual snobbery forums where its questioned are you Transsexual enough darling , that many tg folk , crossdressers , take HRT to take the edge of urges, so it must be true and indeed common practice.
Acknowledged that we here take PM and herbs to do this, calm down and take the edge off, but what about HRT ?
So is there anyone with us here , past or in the future taking the big E , simply to do this, ie cope ?

Thoughts most welcome, but HRT only please

Hi Julie,

Well am not taking hrt to take the edge off but from my experience it definitely would for a while. The problem once you get over the initial inertia though is then you start to like the effects.

I guess a lower dosage gives you more time to think about things and decide what's right for you. But i found once over the first few weeks my body liked it and wanted more. I guess hrt to take the edge off will work for some but for me long term a low dose is just continuing the denial. I think if you have any doubts about things at all its probably best not to take it.

Hi Megan,

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
difficult,

there are some accounts where folks have taken

2 years for estrogen reset then, gone years without and some on and off for 10-30 years,

some taken for a few weeks and hooked,

hence the thread so come on folks,

Julie
The main point I am trying to attempt validation for is

I know that pm and other herbs can help with TG feelings ie lower the need etc,

but can HRT do the same or is it a grabber,

ie

people who could manage with herbs, would HRT take them over the edge or just take the edge of intense feelings,

Many people are pandora box, ie any small amount of pm or HRT can release suppressed feelings and off they pop

However there are more stable types like

Pansy and sfem etc who went on pm grew and then come off and perfectly happy, think stefanie as well now

Would these 3 on HRT be a different story

??????

Good gosh

I am a chatter box

255 threads ?

wow

and some of my threads were lost as well

Well, for me Julie, I have been keen that there was another side of me.  For many years I wondered why, I came to the conclusion early on, that many males have a female side.  Just some don't need to control it that it comes natural to keep it subdued....  while others let it ruin their lives, loves and careers.

For me, the reason for HRT is more of discovery and balance..  I love walking the definite opposite sides of the "fence".  Totally male with boobs one day...  maybe next day, a women with a penis.

I know, for some, that doesn't make sense.  But somehow for me it does.  So therefore it is both calming and cathartic in nature. So, it helps me fulfill both sides of the equation in that regards.
Here is what I found.
Pm originally helped me to keep the noises down.
Low HRT also helped keep the noises down, but sooner or later those voices started to get noisy again.
YMMV, each person is different, however, when you begin to feel suicidal without the PM or Estrogen then you know it's time to move on up.

Julie...?  For me personally..I took herbals in the very behinning to "experiment"  but as others have stated, deep down inside, I already knew but just needed the primer to put me past my fears and doubts.  Once I started hrt, I knew that was what I really wanted.  So, for me, herbals experiment, meds-cut and dry, no doubts.  I understood who I was and went for it.  I know for others, it may be more complicated.  But, for most of us aries, once we commit to something, we go for it until we succeed or hit a brick wall lol.
I really discounted the psychological effects that herbals and HRT that people here and elsewhere reported. I was just wanting the physical effects, mostly stopping or at least slowing down hair loss, though I was OK with the idea of growing breasts and fat redistribution.

I really just thought it was just the idea of doing something about being trans and/or the hope of the physical effects. I think I was wrong about this now though. Herbals have had a marginal effect on me physically, but psychologically, it seems to be a big deal. I get much more dysphoric when I cycle off PM.

I could deal with the hair loss with wigs and I could just get a boob job, but I don't know that would help with the dysphoria the way PM has. I do have some concerns with taking it long term though, so I may have to go on HRT. Was going to last summer, but the informed consent clinic I tried had way too long of a waiting list. I'll probably have to do the therapist route, but I hate the idea of that. Probably a big part of why I tried herbals to begin with rather than HRT.

Julie, I think this is one of the main reason, I'm so aprehensive about starting.  Every week for the last month, I go to my therapy appointment planning on telling my therapist, that I am ready to start and then I don't.  I can't really figure out what keeps drawing me back here.  But I keep reading your story and I'm like that is so me, except without hte caring, loving and understanding wife.
